Luby is Vikings’ hat-trick hero at Carew

 
 

Carew 1 – Hakin United 7

 

On fire Leon Luby scored a terrific hat-trick also three assists which helped champions Hakin United who comfortably defeated Carew at the Gerald Hicks Memorial Gound.
 
After last week’s disappointing FAW Trophy Cup exit at Radnor the Vikings got back in the groove with a dominating performance against the Rooks.
 
The visitors led 2-0 at the break before adding a further five goals to run out comfortable winners as Scott Davies’ Hakin outfit picked up their second victory of the season.
 
Midway through the first period Luby struck a neat eight-yard finish to open the scoring, Luby assisted for the second which was scored by Cameron Brunton with a cheeky back heel.
 
On the stroke of half time the hosts were awarded a penalty which saw Marcus Griffiths well struck effort brilliantly saved by Vikings’ goalkeeper Rory Williams.
 
After the break the Vikings continued to put Carew under pressure and were rewarded with a third goal as Camron Thomas teed up Luby who made no mistake inside the box for the third.
 
Liam Parks headed home at a corner for the fourth, substitute Craig Nicholson added the fifth with a sublime 30-yard low strike, Scott Ferney tapped-in from close range for the sixth, Luby added the seventh for his treble, the wide midfielder ghosted past four or five plays which started from the halfway before finishing clinically from 15 yards.
 
Carew grabbed a late consolation effort through Rhys Lewis; the teenager struck a lobbed effort from distance which bounced over Williams before finding the net.

Price double sinks Robins

 
 

Fishguard Sports 5 – Milford United 1

 

Lucas Price struck twice which saw Fishguard Sports gain an easy victory over new boys Milford United at the Tregroes Gound.

The Sports have not at the best start to the season, but they put in a confident display against the Robins to secure their first win of the season.
 
Price opened the scoring on the 19-minute mark as he finished confidently cutting in from the right with a low 15-yard finish. Veteran centre back Anthony Couzens added a second just before half time.
 
The Sports continued to control matters in the second half and were rewarded with further goals by Hayden Hughes before impressive teenage striker Finley Turner turned home his side’s only goal.
 
However, it was the Sports who had the final say as Josh Bland added his name to the Sports’ scoresheet to complete a good day at the office.

Battling Tish give Goodwick a fright

 
 

Goodwick United 1 – St Ishmaels 0

 

Ben Steele grabbed a controversial first half winner for Goodwick United in a hard-fought clash against a battling Tish outfit at Phoenix Park.
 
Roll back a week ago and Tish heavily lost 8-1 at home against Goodwick, however move on a week and Graham Ninnis’ Tish were determined they were not going to receive a second hiding in a row against the same opposition - down to their dogged determination throughout the 90 minutes.
 
The only goal of the game was scored on the 28-minute mark as Ben Steele headed home from 12 yards, however it caused controversy with Tish claiming whilst the ball was cleared it hadn’t crossed the line, but referee Neill Crawshaw stuck to his decision and the goal stood.
 
But for the remainder Goodwick never really created another goal scoring opportunity down to Tish’s impressive rear guard.
 
Near the end of the clash Tish were unlucky not to equalise as Brennan Devonald struck the inside of the post from a corner from a corner as lady luck stayed on Goodwick’s side.

Wizards are held to a draw by Robins

 
 

Merlins Bridge 1 – Pennar Robins 1

 
 
High-flying Merlins Bridge came from behind to secure a hard-fought draw against battling Pennar Robins at the Welfare Ground.
 
Mike Preddy’s Wizards dropped their first points of the season, despite still remaining unbeaten.
 
The visitors took an early lead as Ceri Griffiths glanced home a free kick which stunned the Wizards, it was a slender one-goal lead they held going into the interval.
 
The hosts were awarded a late penalty which on fire striker Aaran Hallam comfortably despatched to earn his side a point when it was likely they were moments earlier they were slipping to their first defeat.

Wilkes classic scorpion kick earns Swifts narrow win

 
 

Narberth 1 – Monkton Swifts 2

 
 
A goal of the season contender scored by Jimmy Wilkes secured a narrow victory for Monkton Swifts against gritty Narberth at Jesse Road.
 
With score level at 1-1 Wilkes scored a magnificent 83^rd minute winner as he struck an audacious scorpion kick from a delightful cross supplied by Jay Kilby which flew in the top corner to break the Bluebirds’ hearts.
 
Manager Stuart James Swifts narrowly led 1-0 at half thanks to a well taken header by Wilkes who got on the end of Danny James’ floated free kick.
 
Six minutes after the interval Narberth deservedly levelled matters Lloyd Hughes lashed his eight-yard shot rattled in the roof of the net.
 
With the game evenly poised it took a super Wilkes strike to secure the points, late in the game the Swifts were awarded a penalty when Danny James was upended inside the box, however Narberth goalkeeper Daniel James pulled off a great save to deny Swifts’ Dylan Davies.

Tenby beat Nomads in eight-goal thriller

 
 

Tenby 5 – Neyland 3

 
 
Tenby came out on top in an eight-goal thriller against Neyland.

Nomads’ goalkeeper Corey Riley pulled off a stunning save to deny Harri Phillips from the spot, however seven minutes later Tenby took the lead as Boris Suffolk-Hickman fired home.
 
The lead was short lived as Neyland’s Ben Gale equalised with a stunning volley thanks to a neat Jay Johnstone cross. Tenby restored the lead as Liam Williams headed home from a corner as the hosts led 2-1 at the break.
 
Shortly after the interval Phillips bagged his second goal of the game for his side’s third, the Nomads pulled one back as Mike Chandler made no mistake with a well taken edge of the box finish.
 
Tenby added a fourth as Liam Williams neatly chipped Riley, Phillips raced clear to add Tenby’s fifth before veteran substitute Sean Hannon headed home from a corner for a late consolation effort.
