West Wales Intermediate Cup Round 2
Hakin United 4 – Drefach AFC 0
Striker Liam Parms scored a superb hat-trick for West Wales Intermediate Cup holders Hakin United in a comfortable four-goal victory against Carmarthenshire Premier League Drefach AFC at the Obs.
The away fans enjoyed themselves as they created a good atmosphere as they sang and banged on their drums for nigh on the duration of the cup tie, but it wasn’t enough to urge their team to victory as the hosts were in control from start to finish.
Vikings manager Scott Davies will be pleased his side overcame a short break in the first half as referee took the players off for safety measures as there was a shorts thunder and lightning storm.
At that time, it was goalless but once they returned to action The Vikings grabbed two quick goals before the break to put them in control of the tie, they added two further goals to run out comfortable winners.
Five minutes before half time the hosts opened the scoring when Matt Broome’s neat through ball fell to Parks who drilled home from 12 yards in the bottom corner.
Minutes later Leon Luby’s cross in the box caused mayhem as Cameron Brunton struck a wicked drive which flew into the net.
A minute after the break The Vikings bagged their third, it stemmed from another dangerous Luby cross from the left which found Parks who drilled in from eight yards out.
In stoppage time Parks completed his well-deserved hat-trick with a superb close range volley as the clinical striker was teed-up by Brunton who wrapped up the scoring as the Vikings progress in this prestigious cup competition.
