County Junior Finals are a resounding success
Neyland won the toss and asked a young Saundersfoot team to bat before Harry Nicholas (4-1-17-1) and William Hughes (4-3-5-0) kept things tight to start against brothers John and Tom Mansbridge. However with the change of bowlers on, Saundersfoot picked up the momentum, although never quite being able to dominate the older experienced Neyland attack. John was out for 31 (three fours) and Tom followed with 15. Geraint Rees (4-0-18-2) bowled well at the end for Neyland but Tom Cole hit a quick-fire 18 (three fours) and Saundersfoot ended on 82-3 in their 20 overs.

When Neyland batted, Ryan Norton kept things tight (3-0-6-0) and both John (1 for 4) and Tom Mansbridge (2-19) made inroads to the Neyland batting. Tom especially flighted and turned the ball, showing the value of a good spin bowler. However Jack Nicholas (18) steadied the ship and some big hitting by Ewan Griffiths (32, including six fours) together with Zac Davies (12) saw Neyland home in the 15th over. For Saundersfoot, Levi Hughes picked up 3-28 at the end.

An excellent tea was provided by Wendy Bradshaw and Pat Williams in the St Ishmaels’ club after the game.

Under 13s Final:

Whitland (90 for 2) beat Narberth (88 for 6) by 2 runs

Umpires: Dennis Chiffi & John Williams
Venue: Cresselly CCUnder 13 winners Whitland
Coaches: Matthew Davies (Whitland), Richard Howell (Narberth)

Whitland batted first and Jamie Thomas (retired on 30) held the innings together with Gethin Scourfield (13) and Dafydd Jones (8) being the main scorers.  Unfortunately, Narberth's cause wasn't helped by conceding 31 extras, to Whitland's 10.  Rhodri Dyer (1-13) and Lee Peters (1-10) were the Narberth wicket takers as Whitland finished on 90 -2 in their 20 overs.

Narberth got off to a flying start with H Rees (13) and Cameron Pritchard (18, including two big sixes.)  Louis Davies anchored the innings with 23 not out. The game was finely balanced at 52-2 in the 12th over but Whitland kept taking wickets at vital times and bowled tight lines.  Dafydd Jones (1-15) Owain Gibbon (1-19) and Hari Williams (2-20) were the wicket takers for Whitland.

County Junior Finals are a resounding successThere were also two fine catches by wicket keeper Tristan Rees and it came down to an exciting last over with Narberth needing 7 to win and went to the last ball last (a Whitland theme in finals this year).  Rhodri Dyer (18 not out at the end) took Narberth close at 88-6, but Whitland ran out winners with both coaches Richard Howell and Matthew Davies' blood pressure up to a maximum.  An excellent game played by local rivals in the true spirit of cricket.

Under 11's Final:

Narberth (235-9) lost to Hook (249-3)

Umpires: Robert Ridge & Kieran O'Connor
Venue: Haverfordwest CC
Coaches: Andrew Miller (Hook), Jordan Howells (Narberth)

County Junior Finals are a resounding success

Narberth batted first in this game which is played in a pairs format with each team starting with 200 runs and each pair of batsmen/women batting for 4 overs with 6 runs conceded per wicket taken.

For Narberth there were excellent innings by Will Nicholas (6), Mathew Cockwell (5), Jake Thomas (5) Tyler Dennis (5) and by Shay Norcross (8), top scorer on the day. However, as well as Narberth batted, Hook bowled and fielded very well with three direct run outs by Henry Thomas, Luke Owen and Lewis Miller, plus  two good catches by Chester Marles and Lewis Miller. Narberth ended on 235 net after the loss of nine wickets which would prove decisive in the end.

County Junior Finals are a resounding successHook are a young side with only Elin Miller not available next year so it was great to see two young ladies playing - Lowri Pritchard for Narberth and Welsh International Elin Miller for Hook.  All Hook players batted well with some very tight Narberth bowling. The main scorers for Hook were Owain Phelps (7) and Jacob Owen (7).

As well as Narberth bowled, they could only take three wickets, including one run out by Matthew Cockwell and despite an exciting last over, Hook ended on 249-3 at the end of their innings .

This was a superb game of cricket with several County under 10 players in both teams. The standard of batting, with shots all around the ground, bowling and fielding was a pleasure to watch and a credit to all the players, coaches and the two clubs. In years to come this years' County Under 10's will certainly be a force to be recognised.
Hook Team:
