Classy Vikings put on five-star display to progress in FAW Trophy

Adam John - bagged a second half brace for delighted Hakin

FAW Trophy – 4th Round

Hakin United 5 – Trearddur Bay United 0

Hakin United put on a five-star performance as they comfortably overcame ten-man Trearddur Bay from Anglesey, north Wales at the Obs.

After last week’s disappointing Welsh Cup exit at the hands of Holywell Town, Scott Davies’ Vikings gave the perfect response as they scored five goals without reply and kept a clean sheet to progress in the FAW Trophy.

The hosts led 2-0 at the interval plus scored three more goals after the break.
The Vikings opened the scoring in the 21st minute as the visitors’ keeper Dan Williams fumbled a cross and Shane Walsh banged in the loose ball.

That goal rattled the visitors but inspired The Vikings as two minutes later they added a second, it stemmed from a Leon Luby corner that skipper Justin Harding acrobatically fired into the net.

In the 53rd minute the visitors were down to ten-men as referee Craig Templeton issued Mel McGinness a straight red card for a reckless tackle.

The North Wales outfit were down to ten men which made it tough for them as the Vikings took full advantage of the numerical advantage.

In the 69th minute Adam John lashed home a Camron Thomas cross from the left to put his team 3-0 ahead.

Two minutes later John struck his second of the tie when Ryan Wilson worked space inside the box for the wide-sided midfielder to finish clinically with a low drive.

Five minutes later the Vikings added a fifth as goal scorer John set-up substitute Ben Aldred who slotted home to complete the scoring.
