Haverfordwest County 4 – Westfields FC 1

An excellent second-half display by Haverfordwest County secured a comfortable victory against Westfields FC at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.
After losing in midweek, the Bluebirds bounced back with a terrific showing against the team from Hereford, who are in the Midlands Premier Division.
Birthday boy Wayne
Bluebirds’ manager Wayne Jones had his birthday wishes as his team produced an efficient display as the whole squad was used and all of them gave a good account of themselves.
The homesters broke the deadlock in the 15
th minute, Liam Fawcett set up co-striker Jordan Follows who lashed home from 14 yards.
Jack Britton found the back of the net minutes later after good work again from Fawcett, but it was disallowed for offside. Westfields goalkeeper Matthew Gwynn pulled off a good save to deny Greg Walters.
Keeper error
Then on the stroke of half time an error from Bluebirds’ keeper Craig Morris allowed Jamie Cuss to header home low at the far post.
Bluebirds manager Jones used all his substitutes in the second half, and on the hour mark, the homesters restored the lead as right back Ricky Watts, up in attack, rifled home a stunning right-footed effort. Walters was very unlucky not to add a third as his fierce right footed shot struck the post with keeper Gwynn stranded.

But the Bluebirds fans did not have to wait long before they did add a third goal as Sam Wilson struck with a carbon-copy off Watts’ second goal.
Palmer strikes
Five minutes from full time and Nicky Palmer struck the fourth and Fawcett had a close range header stopped following Laurie Haworth’s cross and Declan Carroll’s 22-yard direct free-kick saw keeper Gwynn pull off a superb save at full stretch to deny any further scoring.
