Who will win the Senior Cup 2017?

Pembrokeshiresport.co.uk has asked managers and stalwarts of Division One clubs who they think will lift the Senior Cup at the Conygar Bridge Meadow on Saturday, 22nd April? As expected the majority have gone for red-hot favourites Merlins Bridge, but Pennar Robins boss Chris Lloyd is the only one who has gone for underdogs Clarbeston Road!

Kristan Bennett (Hakin United manager)
Merlins Bridge 4 Clarbeston Road 2
I think it’s going to be an entertaining final and closer than some people thinks. I have to go for The Bridge as they have experience playing in big games, but if Clarby could get an early goal and settle into the game, then who knows.

Brian Morris (Goodwick United Chairman)
Merlins Bridge 4 Clarbeston Road 1
Clarby are a good side and it would be great reward for all the work they do at junior level if they won the cup. I think that The Bridge strikers will have too much pace and movement for the Clarby defence.

Alan Kitts (Lamphey manager)
Merlins Bridge 3 Clarbeston Road 1
The Bridge I feel will win by two clear goals; they are the best team we have faced in the league this season. I think Clarby are a decent outfit but I feel they played their final when they beat Goodwick United in the semi-final.

Matthew Price (West Dragons manager)
Merlins Bridge 3 Clarbeston Road 1
I think that The Bridge will have too much for Clarby, but I believe that The Wizards will have to work hard for the victory.

Jeremy Griffiths (Carew joint manager)
Merlins Bridge 3 Clarbeston Road 1
Clarby will be tough opposition but The Bridge should have too much quality in key areas.

Ben Nicholas (Monkton Swifts manager)
Merlins Bridge 3 Clarbeston Road 1
Merlins Bridge on a bigger pitch will prove a step too far for an impressive Clarbeston Road outfit.

Scott Richards (Angle)
Merlins Bridge 2 Clarbeston Road 1
Merlins Bridge has more experienced players, and I think that will see them home when Clarby put them under pressure. Would really like to see Clarby win it!

Micky Phillips (Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Assistant Secretary):
Can Clarby follow in the footsteps of HMS Harriers (49-50) and Merlins Bridge (86-87) and become only the third division two side to win the Senior Cup? The three Senior cup matches between the two sides show the Bridge having won all 3 and all have been high scoring affairs with the games averaging more than 7 goals per game. Based on this I'll go for a classic 4-3 win to the Bridge.

Dene Hurlow (Tenby)
Merlins Bridge 4 Clarbeston Road 0
I just feel that Merlins Bridge will be too strong in every department and Clarbeston Road will have to be at their best if they’re going to pull off a huge upset.

Mark ‘Bossy’ Edwards (Neyland  manager)
Merlins Bridge 3 Clarbeston Road 0
Merlins Bridge has a very experienced squad and I’m afraid with players who have won finals before I really can’t see Clarby upsetting the Wizards’ party!

Chris Lloyd (Pennar Robins manager)
Merlins Bridge 1 Clarbeston Road 2
I’m going for underdogs Clarbeston Road to pull off a shock victory, 2-1, with Josh Woods repeating his heroics of the semi-final and scoring the winner!

Andrew Burgoyne (Milford United manager)
Merlins Bridge 2 Clarbeston Road 1
The extra strength and experience will be just enough to squeeze The Bridge through. Although a possible upset wouldn’t be too much of a surprise given Clarby’s good form in the league and cup.

Nigel Thomas (Narberth manager)
Merlins Bridge 4 Clarbeston Road 1
Bridge are the best side we’ve played so far this season, with good work rate and coached well from the line. I would love to see our old skipper Raff Barnett picking up a winner’s medal with Clarby, but The Bridge should be easy winners.

Glenn Murray (Johnston manager)
Merlins Bridge 3 Clarbeston Road 1
I would love to see Clarbeston Road pull off a massive shock and win, but I feel that The Bridge will be too strong and experience is critical.
