Tom Davies

Tom Davies

26 - Goalkeeper

Teacher

The son of late Carew legend Aled Davies who followed dad into the keeper's role - and rightly regarded as a very good shot stopper, who showed his ability to be in the right place at the right time with a cracking late save in beating Goodwick. Recently played through injury but now back to his best. Good all-rounder as a key player for Carew Cricket Club.

Shaun Whitfield

Shaun Whitfield

22 - Defender

QA Inspector

A marauding full back who loves nothing better than getting forward in support of his front men to score the odd goal - but also defends well with a strong tackle and good aerial ability. Always seems to have time on the ball and the ability to read the game - and in the summer he is a terrific all-rounder with the ability to take wickets or score runs very quickly as a big hitter.

Spencer Williams

Spencer Williams

21 - Defender

Joined Carew from Haverfordwest County and proved his worth from the outset after returning from a football scholarship in Canada, where he gained a lot of valuable experience that has helped him prove his worth for The Rooks. Another very good tackler and ball distributor and someone who remains very calm during of periods of pressure.

Zac Rowell

Zac Rowell

18 - Defender

Student

Slots in well at left back and is very composed in his reading of the game as a teenager playing with a maturity beyond his years. Strong in the tackle but a creative player who can move the ball up front in a measured way or push forward to make telling crosses. Played really well in the West Wales Cup semi-final and certainly one to watch for the future.

Max Brindley

Max Brindley

19 - Defender

Student

One of the best young sporting all-rounders in the county as he plays cricket for the Carew First XI and is captain of the TenbyYouth Rugby team which has reached the WRU Youth Plate Final at the Principality Stadium. He has settled in well at the heart of the defence with Jack and has the qualities needed in that he never shirks a tackle, can match most in the air and is adept at distribution - as well as being able to move forward for set-piece attacks.

Jack Christopher

Jack Christopher

 30 - Defender

Carpenter

One of the key players in the side as he makes use of his vast experience at Welsh Premier and Welsh League levels. In those days he was a proven goal scorer but now holds the back young four together in defence with his ability to sniff out danger at an early stage. Still superb in the air and strong in the tackle - and a potent threat when he moves forward at set pieces.

Iwan Izzard

Iwan Izzard

25 - Midfielder

Company Director

'Izzy' is club captain and a very fit midfield dynamo who is hugely involved in the play up front as a bonus - and the old cliche 'covers every blade of grass' could be used to describe his involvement. He was a regular in the county side which won the SB Williams Inter-County Cup this season and doubled up as a very good cricket - but 'up the hill' at Cresselly!

Ian Darbyshire

Ian Darbyshire

26 - Midfielder

General Manager

'Hammy' joined Carew from St Clears three years ago and provides a good foil for Iwan in the heart of midfield in his work rate from box to box.  Extremely fit, as he showed when completing 'Iron Man Wales' a couple of years ago, his tackling is superbly timed and his distribution excellent - so it is easy to see how he is missed when unavailable.

Lloyd Hughes

21 - Midfielder

Quantity Surveyor

Lloyd had been with Carew since under 16 level and showed his total commitment when travelling home from Reading University and then Cardiff to play. He has terrific skill levels on the ball and loves taking defenders on with ability to drift past them - and his sweet left foot shot is a potent threat, as it was with two vital goals in the West Wales Cup semi-final.

Jordan Richards

Jordan Richards

26 - Striker

Barman

'JJ' came to the club from Tenby and one of only two players in the squad to have played in a Senior Cup Final. He is always a threat with his ability to twist and turn out of tackles - and find spaces with his eye for the goal. Scored in the semi-final and bagged a brace in the West Wales Cup semi, one a good header. Sure to be a key player in both finals with his outstanding talent.

Scott Ferney

Scott Ferney

21 - Striker

Electrician

The team's vice-captain and undoubted 'live wire' in the changing rooms - and his natural nose for goals over a number of seasons poses a real threat for opposing defences. He has adapted to playing out wide after years as a centre forward and is a key player who has pace aplenty and can score with both feet. Scott is very committed and likely to feature strongly in the final.

Sam Christopher

Sam Christopher

29 - Striker

Carpenter

Another very committed goal scorer who found the net in the senior cup semi-final and grabbed another two goals in the West Wales semi-final. Very quick on the ball and deceptively hard to knock off the ball by bigger defenders with his natural balance and pace. Despite being injured for a spell he still turned up on the bench and has scored a handful of hat-tricks - and a key player in his second campaign after previously appearing in the final with Tenby.

Scott Richards

Scott Richards

27 - Defender

Carpenter

Another great club man who has battled his way back from serious injury to serve The Rooks well. Plays at he heart of the defence and able to sue his height to good effect in the air, as well as being deceptively skillful on the floor for a tall man. Really showed his heart for his adopted village when he was out for that lengthy period and still went to every match - and scored for the cricket team because he was unable to play!

Tom Grover

Tom Grover

24 - Central defence

Gardener

Has been with Carew for three seasons and has grown with the squad during that time with his ability to play full back as well as being a strong central defender who can tackle all day and then push forward in support of his midfield. He has a no-nonsense approach to the game which serves the team well and never lets the side down in whatever he does.

Alex Bayley

Alex Bayley

24 - Midfielder

Operation

Another hard-hitting Cresselly Cricket Club player who can be totally relied upon as a someone who plays in midfield for the team 'down the hill' but also loves to push forward in pursuit of goals as a real bonus. Powerful attack-minded midfielder who has a terrific shot which team mates would like to see more of.
James Hinchliffe

James Hinchliffe

24 - Midfielder

Wholesale Manager

Always available with his ability to plug gaps with his total club commitment and high skill levels on the ball. His manager said, "every club needs a James Hinchliffe", which is high praise indeed. A strong tackler and good in the air - and doubles up as a very good all-rounder with Carew Cricket Club.

Rob Scourfield

Rob Scourfield

44 - Manager

Publican

'Turkey' has been manager now for three years after many years of great service as an old-fashioned centre half who never gave an inch and expected nothing less from opponents. Totally committed to Carew in cricket as well, where he is still playing after a number of years as a captain with a will to win. Held in high regard by his football squad and has formed a solid partnership with Jeremy Griffiths, another long-serving stalwart of The Rooks, with a good football brain that has certainly helped the club have arguably its best season in living memory.

53 - Assistant Manager

Parts/service worker
'Carrot' also played for the club as a midfielder from the age of 15 to 46 before joining Adam Hughes as a fundamental part of the management team for four years and then joined the current partnership and the building of such a potent force in local football. A real Carew stalwart he has been its hon secretary for an amazing 27 years and has total respect from the players. He has also been a solid cricketer for the club and is still captain of the third XI.
