2026 Junior Rugby Finals Day - Part 3
Today we at PembrokeshireSport.co.uk are delighted to round off our comprehensive coverage of the Junior Rugby Finals with the Under 16s final between Haverfordwest and Aberaeron, which was a repeat of last year’s final, other than The Young Blues gaining revenge over Aberaeron, which absolutely was a credit to both clubs. WELL DONE ALL INVOLVED!
All we have left now is some information regarding the behind-the-scenes heroes who ensure things run smoothly, which will appear soon!

Young Blues battle their way to big win over old rivals Aber
Haverfordwest 32 - Aberaeron 19
The Blue Riband event of the Finals Day has traditionally been the under 16s final and 2026 was no exception as Haverfordwest took silverware for the second season- but not before The Young Blues had been pushed all the way by an Aberystwyth team that played some excellent rugby.
Indeed, Aber clawed their way back from an early ten-point deficit to lead at the break and at one stage led by nine points - only for The Blues to show their class as they fought back and in the final analysis were worthy winners as Jake John led by example.
Haverfordwest made a good start as Tyler and Malakai John, Lucas Albery, Ayden Davies, Seb Harries and especially Bobby Parr saw prop Alfie Davies plough over for an unconverted try - and they doubled their lead when Cai Morgans, Connor Symmonds and Robbie Stirling helped put in skipper John as he cut through to the line.
Aber bounce back before half time
But Aber battled back as No 8 Aiden Ash and centre Finley Wright looked strong - and with Haverfordwest having lost a player for ten minutes made their numerical advantage count with a well-worked try by Caden Briddon after Ifan Jac Evans, Josh Hughes and Dafydd Caeo Watkin had set the platform.
Then a good handling move featuring Tomas Casso-Davies, Oscar Campbell and skipper Trystan Jones allowed Finley Wright to score a try, converted Campbell to put his team 12-10 ahead at the break.
Aber increased this advantage early in the second period when No 8 Ash crashed through and Campbell again added the extras so the writing looked on the wall for Haverfordwest but with Parr outstanding in the close exchanges, alongside Albery, Owen Peakman and Harries, a try was scored by No 9 Morgans which Campbell converted to narrow the gap to two points.
With their vociferous supporters giving every encouragement The Blues regained the initiative and a well-judged penalty to the corner from John enabled their forwards to register a push-over try which appropriately went to prop Bobby Parr.
Blues gain the ascendancy
Wingers Rio Mujica and Max Bevan has looked sharp wide out for Haverfordwest and their running added to the pressure on Aber and when they were penalised in their own 22 by pressure from the eager Blues it provided Jake John with a penalty, after coach Richard Brazell had shown terrific speed after running on to the pitch with the tee to make sure his team took the easy three points on offer!
There was a delay when an Aber player was injured near the top touchline after bravely blocking a Will Corby run but was well tended by their first aiders - and there was still time for Haverfordwest to put the result beyond doubt as George Dewstowe dived over from a close-range line-out to finally complete the scoring.
Aber had won their previous finals’ day meeting the previous season after the scores were level at the finish and on try count, and in the end won by the fact that they had scored first - so revenge must have tasted sweet for their talented team - but consolation for Aberaeron is the fact that they made the long journey to Pembroke and represented their club with the style and commitment expected from the progressive Mid Wales club!
