2025 Merlins Bridge ABC put on a brilliant boxing night - Part 2

MERLINS BRIDGE ABC’s ANNUAL SHOW AT THE WITHYBUSH ARENA

SECOND HALF:

Today we continue with the second half of Merlins Bridge ABC’s terrific show – with a great action pic for each bout taking by outstanding sports photographer Matthew Kelly of RAW PHOTOGRAPHY. Thanks Matt!

Callum McQuarrie lost to Aloysios Osita (Gwent Boxing Club) a split decision
This bout was equally intense, with Osita coming out fast and landing the early blows. But McQuarrie responded in kind, and after two tight rounds he forced the Gwent man into taking a standing count. However, it was Osita who still took a split verdict with the crowd left applauding both fighters for their efforts.

Miley Flynn beat Elliot Burton (Tylorstown) via a split decision
The next clash was also tight, and it was Burton doing the cleaner work in the opening round. But Flynn didn't panic and appeared to take the second, before both boxers went all out for victory in the third. It then end, it was an ecstatic Flynn who had his hand raised.

Adam Lawrence beat Joseph Hall (Pembroke and Pembroke Dock ABC) via unanimous decision
The 'local derby' bout went the way of Merlins Bridge as Lawrence delivered a comprehensive display, on the front foot and mounting the offence for much of the opening two rounds. Hall hung in there, but was unable to sustain any pressure and the verdict was unanimous.

Cameron Ashmole (Briton Ferry ABC) beat Morgan Hopkins (Llynfi Valley ABC) via a split decision
There was no home fighter in this one, but the pair still put on an enthralling clash for the crowd. After a close three rounds the judges were divided, with Ashmole declared the winner.

Arran James lost to Jack Robertson (Stallion ABC) via unanimous decision
The talented James never truly got going after being cut in the opening round. Robertson clearly took the first and appeared to edge the second round as well, before James came back in the third. But it wasn't enough to stop the Stallion ABC fighter taking victory.

Lewis Jones beat Owen Jones (Towy ABC) via unanimous decision
In the penultimate bout of the evening, it was the 'home' Jones who recovered well after being rocked back on his feet by an early blow. He dominated thereafter, with his Towy opponent taking standing counts in both the second and third rounds. The unanimous verdict came as little surprise.

Sean Bolger beat Alfie Prosser (Maerdy Boxing Club) via stoppage
It was almost midnight when the final fighters entered the ring for the final last bout of the evening, and for the crowd, Bolger made sure the wait was worth it. In a clash between two current Welsh champions, the Merlins Bridge boxer hurt his opponent early on, and Prosser had to take evasive action for much of the opening round.
The second followed the same pattern, and after Bolger landed some powerful blows, Prosser's corner pulled their man out the contest before the bell could start for the third. It was a terrific performance by the local youngster.
