2023 Ken Morris Cup Finals Day
Hundleton too strong for young Rooks
Hundleton (157 for 5) beat Carew Thirds (95 all out) by 62 runs

After being asked to bat first, Hundleton were clearly intent on a quick-fire start to set a challenging total and that is just what they did as Paul Fox belted two sixes and two fours in a second over that produced 22 runs on the way to 60 without loss in seven overs.
Skipper Ben Adams only had to supply Fox with the strike but also stroked three boundaries in his 19 before being becalmed on a damp track once Fox had departed for 39 (4 fours and 3 sixes from only 22 deliveries).
Craig Williamson is rightly regarded as one of the best all-rounders in Division Four and he maintained the momentum after Adams became Dan Heaps’ second victim, hitting 46 in 36 balls, including six fours and a six.
He finally fell to a return catch taken by young Carew bowler Ethan Hall but even then the pressure was maintained by Hundleton as No 5 Johnny Nicot blitzed two fours and a six in his 27 not out in 18 balls to take his side to a very challenging total of 157 for 5 wickets from their 20 overs.
Carew crash as Williamson strikes three times
Carew needed a flying start if they were to get anywhere near the tally needed for victory but their hopes were blown away as Williamson hurled his left-arm missiles down the Narberth slope to such good effect that in three overs he reduced them to 13 for 3.
In his first over he clean bowled Logan and Ethan Hall for ducks and in his third over did the same for Corey, the third of the talented teenage brothers, and veteran opener Steve Cole, who had scored 45 in the earlier semi-final, could only stand and watch at the other end.
Jac Scourfield entered the fray, as Williamson was removed from the attack early having two overs still in hand, and he joined Cole in taking the score to 50 before the latter departed for 30 (four fours and a six), clean bowled by another Hundleton veteran in Leighton O’Connor.
Scourfield reached 26 before he was bowled by Adams, including two boundaries, but only Dan Heaps and Elliot Waters (both with 11) managed double figures thereafter as Adams finished with 4 for 31, Steff Williams (2 for 26) and O’Connor (1 for 27).
It left Carew stranded on 95, some 62 runs short of their opponents, who had gained revenge for defeat by the same opposition the previous campaign.
Richard does the presentations in style
Richard Howell was again rightly praised for his splendid organisation of the whole event alongside his wife Rhiannon and parents John and Heather, who also did a great job, as he thanked the Morris family for their continued support of this hugely popular event.
He also thanked the umpires and scorers for their support, Bill Carne for the continued support of PembrokeshireSport.co.uk, Kyle Quartermaine and Rhodri Dyer for providing the barbecue, and the groundsman for their provision of an excellent playing surface.
It was appropriate that Ben Adams should collect the Ken Morris Memorial Cup on behalf of Hundleton and everyone in both camps received a superb memento from a member of the Morris family before man of the match adjudicator Bill Carne congratulated both teams and supporters of all four clubs on the day in providing an atmosphere that was a credit and ensured a cracking game of cricket.
He highlighted the performances of several key players in both camps but had to admit that on the day there was only one winner - and that was Craig Williamson, who was outstanding with bat and ball for Hundleton on the day!
