Welsh success for local girl cricketers
– and a new league for them

The Pembrokeshire Association of Cricket Coaches are delighted that six of the girls at under 11 and under 13 in the Pembrokeshire regional squad have been selected to represent Wales this season. They are Jess Phillips, Chloe Hood, Olivia James and Elin Jones at under 11 and Lleucu George and Chloe Field at under 13. To build upon this success we are now ready to introduce our training programme for the new upcoming season.
We are following the same format as last year and we would like to invite any girls between the ages of age and 12 who are interested in sport, in particular cricket, to come along to three open cricket taster sessions.

Taster sessions

They will be held in Thornton Hall, Milford Haven, on Sunday, February 12th and 19th between 10am -1 pm and Bloomfield, Narberth, on Sunday February 26th  from 10am to 12 noon.
These will initially be taster sessions introducing cricket at grass roots level. We will initiate a variety of cricket-based skills and games to begin with. We would like to see as many girls interested in playing sport to come along and give it a try.
From these sessions we will follow on with regional training, commencing in Thornton Hall on March 4th

First all-girls league in Wales

This year PACC are also planning to start an all-girls league beginning at U11’s. It is the first of its kind in Wales, and our aim is to put Pembrokeshire at the forefront of girls’ cricket and to become the main feed into the Wales squads at all ages . This won’t happen overnight, we have a plan that will span several years so our initial aim is to encourage more girls to take up cricket. If anyone is interested and requires more information can they please contact their school or club who will have the information, or alternatively contact:
Jackie Williams (Pembrokeshire Women and Girls cricket co-coordinator and U11 Regional Manager and coach) on 07717496404, or email jax.williams@virgin.net or
