Birthday boy Colin WilliamsColin celebrates a big birthday in style!

Customers at Williams Electrical shop in Narberth’s busy High Street received an even more cordial welcome than usual on Thursday last week as they were invited to partake of a glass of mulled wine and enjoy a range of nibbles.

But it wasn’t an early Christmas treat but a celebration of the fact that Colin Williams, who runs the shop alongside wife Sheila and daughter Wendy, was celebrating his 70th birthday.

Colin is well-known in the town for the fact that he has been a town councillor for many years and Narberth’s mayor on several occasions, but in the sporting world he is even better known as someone who has just stepped down after two years in office as the industrious chairman of the Manderwood’s Pembrokeshire Association Football League and remains on the committee there, as he does alongside Wendy on the committee of Narberth Football Club.

He enjoyed a special pre-birthday meal with his family alongside old school chum Nick Evans, who like Colin played football and cricket, plus footballing pals Ralph Phillips, Mike Johns and their wives. Then the women in the Williams’ household chartered their magnificent banner and the celebrations on the day began – and the nibbles were pretty tasty too

PembrokeshireSport.co.uk would like to wish this gentleman of sport a happy 70th birthday – and loads more of them in the future!
