A Pembrokeshire primary school pupil has won a national sports competition as Rosie Bennett, a year six pupil at Ysgol Brynconin in Llandissilio, was successful in a Sport Wales Dragon Sport Wimbledon competition.

After answering three questions about tennis correctly in the internet competition, Rosie’s name was drawn from hundreds of entries from all over Wales.

“Our congratulations to Rosie who has done very well,” said Joanne Williams, Dragon Sport Co-ordinator for Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council.

“Ysgol Brynconin has won many competitions recently and we’re starting to think they are the luckiest school in Pembrokeshire.”

Ten year-old Rosie, from Login, won a tennis racquet, a set of Wimbledon tennis balls and other gifts.

Dragon Sport promotes a wide range of fun sporting opportunities for children aged seven to 11. It also supports schools and clubs with setting up new activities to encourage participation in physical activity.
