Randall Lewis –
President, Llangwm Cricket Club
There was a great deal of sadness in Llangwm and the surrounding area this week at the passing of Randall Lewis, who was the excellent long-serving president of the village’s cricket team and a great supporter of Llangwm RFC.
Llangwm CC was formed in 1949 and Randall was involved with the club from 1953, spending 35 years as the dedicated scorer and doing lots of work at Pill Parks. He succeeded Osmonde John OBE as club president in 1988 and such was the esteem in which he was held by the Llangwm players and committee that he was in office for 23 years, right up to the present day.
Randall had suffered ill health for the past 25 years, resulting in his having both legs amputated but he was a most remarkable and courageous man, never losing his sense of humour, and readiness to be a friend to others.
He was also a great supporter of the rugby team and loved having visits from former players of both sports where he could chat about past times. Randall Lewis was a lovely man who will be remembered with great affection by all who were lucky enough to know him.
