Crymych, Tenby United and Cardigan all gain promotion

It has been a very good season for Pembrokeshire Rugby since Crymych led the way with an amazing season as they blew Division Three (West) apart, whilst Tenby United and Cardigan scooped the honours in Division Four (West).
Not content with that little lot, Narberth finished strongly to come runners-up in Division One (West), with Whitland a respectable seventh at this very high level. It might have been an even more celebratory end to the campaign but Pembroke and Fishguard just missed out in Division Five (West), finishing third and fourth respectively after being the section trail-blazers for much of the season.
There was also disappointment that Pembroke Dock Quins were relegated from Division Four (West) but the Quins are a very young side and will surely bounce back again if they stick together.

CrymychPreseli Men’s proud 100% record

Crymych completed the league and KO Cup double by beating Aberystwyth in the final, whom they will meet in Division Two (West) next campaign. The Preseli Men followed promotion last year with this second championship – and what a record it is! Played 22, won 22, gives them that 100% record (and a 100 point final tally!) as they twice beat strong teams like Mumbles, Dunvant, Haverfordwest, Penclawdd and Gorseinon.
Their coaching team of Elgan Vittle and Lyn Williams, ably assisted by team manager Adrian Howells, worked superbly with skipper Simon James and the rest of the squad, which included inspirational former Welsh prop John Davies – and the end product was some victories that were very hard-won as they showed real self-belief.

Tenby UnitedSeasiders shine

Tenby United also played superb attacking rugby in Division Four (West) as they topped the table with 95 points from 20 wins and only two defeats. The Seasiders finished up with the silverware and in Emori Katalau and Arthur Maulio-Martino they had excellent coaches, ably assisted by Chris Thomas and Russell Milns, who worked very hard in the back-ground.
Ably led by Nicky Guymer, the Seasiders played some superb running rugby – and even when injuries disrupted their plans for a while they still managed to battle their way through, as all successful teams do.

CardiganCardis cash in

At one time during the first half of the season Cardigan might have been pleased with a top five place but an amazing run of victories took them into the promotion stakes and as Amman United stuttered towards the end (after the Teifisiders had beaten them twice!) the reward for Cardigan was promotion on try count!
Dylan Davies again led by example whilst coaches Rob Evans, Ty Burton and Eurfyl Davies worked well alongside team manager Keith Phillips and the squad to become a very strong unit indeed, even accounting for Tenby on their dramatic late run for a place in Division Three (West) next campaign.

NarberthOtters on top in Pembrokeshire

Congratulations also to Narberth after coming second in Division One (West) and proving to be the Pride of Pembrokeshire. They had Jonathan Dodd as Director of Coaching, ably assisted by Sean Gale and Andy Barlow, plus the redoubtable Kenny Davies in charge of development. Jason Hughes led the team by example from his front row berth whilst exciting players like Steve Martin, Roger Davies and Tom Bonnell certainly scored a heap of tries. The Otters are really organised well as a club and their match programme is the best in West Wales!
