County Under 11s make a cracking start
Pembrokeshire Under 11s 148 for 5 beat Mid Glamorgan Under 11s (147 for 2)
Pembrokeshire hosted Mid Glamorgan at Burton Cricket Club on Sunday and won a cracking game of cricket in the last over by five wickets, reward for bowling and fielding well before batting sensibly to chase down a challenging score set by the opposition.
Mid Glam batted first and scored 147 - 2 with Welsh international Emyr Rees scoring 52 not out, and with support from Huw Evans (37) and Ben Crook (26 not out).
For Pembrokeshire everyone bowled and fielded well in very cold conditions with Geraint Rees (Neyland) and James Davies (Burton) each taking a wicket.
Pembrokeshire then chased down the total, losing five wickets but winning with three balls to spare. Niall Hooper, from Neyland, scored14 and Carew’s Iori Hicks (8) had an opening stand of 33 then Geraint Rees, of Neyland, (21) and Narberth’s Kyle Williams (40) put on 55 for the third wicket. Adam Hart (Narberth) finished with 12 not out and James Davies (Burton) contributed 14 not out to see Pembrokeshire home for an excellent victory that delighted coach Andrew Williams and team manager Lyn Rees.
