Haverfordwest’s talented young players showed what a force they are to be reckoned with as they ran in five tries against their counterparts from Narberth to secure the youth cup.

O’Leary gets Blues under way

They took the lead with a try from pacy centre David O’Leary, after some good work up front by skipper Liam Brown, Asher Flowers, Ryan Banner and Morgan Scale, which classy young outside half Ashley Sutton converted.

Narberth, who had Zac France-Miller, Rhys Thomas, David Skippings and Nathan Lloyd securing good possession up front, reduced the deficit with a penalty from No 10 Kyle Keane but they were unable to make good use of half chances as the Haverfordwest defensive cover was well organised by Sutton and Will Curtis – and they added an unconverted try by full back Curtis before the oranges.

The young Otters tried hard, via the likes of Lawrence Headlam, Gareth Owen and Jake Philpin to claw their way back into contention but the Blues struck a significant blow when quick hands by O’Leary and Luke Harvatt allowed  winger Jamie Lewis in at the posts for Sutton to add the extra points.

Replacement flanker Tom Thomas added a fourth Haverfordwest try as reward for his support work and again Sutton converted – and the Blues rounded off a cracking evening of rugby, well reffed by Dan Devine, as powerful centre Luke Harvatt raced over for an unconverted try.
