Haverfordwest County secures a top match!
Pembrokeshire’s Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure – Councillor Rob Lewis - has welcomed the announcement that Haverfordwest County is to host a major football match.
The Welsh Football Trust announced last week that this Autumn’s Victory Shield match between Wales and England will be played at Haverfordwest County FC’s recently redeveloped New Bridge Meadow Stadium.
Sky TV covers prestigious competition
The match will be shown live on Sky TV.
“This is brilliant news for our County and for Haverfordwest in particular” said Councillor Lewis
“The Sky Sports Victory Shield is a very prestigious tournament, which has featured famous players such as Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Bobby Charlton in the past - as well as renowned Welsh players such as Ian Rush and John Toshack.
“I hope local football fans will turn up in force to cheer on the Welsh side.”
First time at Bridge Meadow Stadium
The annual Victory Shield Tournament takes place between the Under -16 sides of Wales, England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Since the end of World War Two it has been won outright 33 times by England, 16 times by Scotland and once each by Wales and Northern Ireland (although they have shared a win on several occasions).
The match will take place on Friday October 15th with a 7.35pm kick off. It will be the first time that Haverfordwest County FC has hosted a Victory Shield Match.
Earlier this year the New Bridge Meadow ground hosted a Centenary Shield fixture between Wales Under- 18 schoolboys and their counterparts from the Republic of Ireland.

Bluebirds lose a great club stalwart in Cliff Saies
It was with great sadness that everyone associated with Haverfordwest County FC, and football generally in the county, heard of the passing of its former club secreatary, Cliff Saies.
Cliff was secretary for 30 seasons and only relinquished his position in March 1998 because of deteriorating health. He was rewarded by the Club with its first Life Membership, and more recently honoured by the Football Association of Wales with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Cliff was able to attend the Bridge Meadow Stadium to be presented with his Award by former FAW President and Club President, Des Shanklin.
Totally involved
Cliff was involved with the transfer from the old Bridge Meadow in the early 1990s, the establishment of the All-Wales Welsh Premier League, times when County won Welsh League Championships and relegations. He also served for a number of years on the Council of the Pembrokeshire League.
Cliff wrote every minute and letter in his immaculate handwriting, you never saw Cliff without a collar and tie, and he was liked and respected throughout the Welsh football world.
A proper gentleman
Cliff was a proper gentleman, never losing his cool in the often tempestuous world of competitive sport. He has been missed since 1998, and will be now leave a huge gap in the story of Haverfordwest County Football Club.
Football lovers in Pembrokeshire all send our deepest sympathy to his devoted wife Dilys and family in their sad loss.

Bluebirds win seven-goal thriller
Caersws 3 – Haverfordwest County 4
Haverfordwest County won an exciting seven-goal thriller at Cymru Alliance Welsh League Division One outfit Caersws.
Bluebirds’ boss Derek Brazil will feel a happy man after his side haven’t lost a pre-season friendly, and now they go into next Saturday full of confidence as they entertain Newtown in the first game of the new Welsh Premier Super-12 season at the New Bridge Meadow with a 2pm kick-off.
The visitors trailed one-nothing to the mid-Wales outfit with barely 20 minutes on the clock, but they responded in a positive manner as skipper Neil Thomas equalised with a low-drive and Lee Hudgell scored after a flowing move to give the visitors a 2-1 cushion at half-time.
New signing Richard Evans cut in from the right to score the Bluebirds’ third shortly after the break, with a sweetly struck left-foot finish.
However, the home side didn’t throw in the towel as the visitors were guilty of taking their foot off the gas and conceded two sloppy goals, as the scores were level at three goals apiece.
But ten minutes from full-time and substitute Vincent Atueyi grabbed the winner, the 17-year-old striker was in the right place at the right time, and buried his snap-shot from six-yards to keep his side’s impressive pre-season unbeaten record intact.

Bluebirds gain creditable draw with Swans
Haverfordwest County 1 – Swansea City 1
Haverfordwest County were delighted to gain a creditable draw with Championship outfit Swansea City in front of a huge crowd at the New Bridge Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The kick-off was delayed due to the fact that so many fans arrived at the turnstiles much to the delight with everyone connected with the Bluebirds.
The game didn’t disappoint either as both sides played fast, fluent, entertaining football. Swans’ legend Alan Curtis was in charge of the visitors, while Swans’ skipper was centre back Jamie Grimes, who Bluebirds fans will fondly remember playing for the them last season.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 14th minute. An error by Chris O’Sullivan led to deadly striker Kerry Morgan finishing from close range.
Minutes earlier, and Bluebirds’ goalkeeper Lee Idzi pulled off a stunning save, diving down to his right to tip a wicked Mattie Collins direct free kick around the post.
The home side deservedly equalised in the 20th minute. Brilliant work down the left touchline from Richard Evans, playing instead for the injured Lee Hudgell, his pinpoint cross led to Steffan Williams turning on a sixpence and his snap shot struck the post as the Bluebirds\' skipper Neil Thomas quickly followed up to rifle the rebound in the roof of the net.
That’s how it stayed at the interval. The second period saw the Swans finding it increasingly hard to break down the strong Bluebirds resistance. The back four of Kyle Graves, Kristian Griffiths, Lee Jarman and Mark Doods were solid. The midfield consisting of Jamie Bradford, Chris O’Sullivan, Richard Evans,
Steffan Williams and Terry Evans all worked their socks off, as did lone striker Neil Thomas.
Jack Christopher came on up front in the second period and was a handful for the Swans defence. Jack Jones, Tom Ramasut and Rhys Dalling, all enjoyed a run out against their professional opponents. Right at the death Idzi pulled off a brilliant full-length diving save to his left to deny Morgan scoring a winner.
The Bluebirds play their last pre-season friendly at Caersws this Saturday, 7th August and the following Saturday, 14th August they open their Welsh Premier campaign, with a home clash with Newtown that will kick-off at 2.30pm.

Neil’s super goal-scoring effort puts talented Cardiff City youngsters in their place at the New Bridge Meadow
Haverfordwest County 1 Cardiff City Under 18s 0
Haverfordwest County skipper Neil Thomas’ second half strike was enough to earn his side a narrow victory over Cardiff City youngsters at the New Bridge Meadow on Saturday.
The Championship outfit’s academy squad had many young promising professionals amongst their ranks, and they proved a difficult nut too crack.
No goals in the first period, but there were plenty of goalmouth incidents to keep a decent sized crowd gripped to their seats.
Early in the clash saw man of the match County central midfielder Neil Thomas strike a powerful long-range effort that stung goalkeeper Reece Ottley’s hands.
The visitors came closest to opening the scoring, as striker Jesse Darko struck Lee Idzi’s right-hand post, after the lively striker tried to capitalise fully from a defensive blunder by home centre back Mark Dodds.
Both sides played entertaining football, keeping the ball on the deck, with plenty of accurate passing and movement, but both teams lacked that vital cutting edge in front of goal.
Five minutes before the interval and Steffan Williams was through on goal, but diminutive striker failed to make the most of a golden scoring opportunity. His tame shot was parried off keeper Ottley and Neil Thomas quickly followed up to fire the rebound against the back of a City defender.
In the second period Haverfordwest County boss Derek Brazil brought on top quality striker Jack Christopher, who replaced Lee Hudgell, in an idea to give them more direction and purpose up front.
The switch was rewarded midway through the second period, as the home side scored a winner. Danny Thomas released Christopher, and the striker in on goal unselfishly squared the ball to skipper Thomas, who instinctively drilled a low drive in the back of the net from 12-yards.
That 73rd minute goal proved decisive and now Haverfordwest County are in good spirits for the visit of Swansea City at the New Bridge Meadow Stadium, this Tuesday, 3rd August - kick-off is scheduled for 7.30pm.
Haverfordwest County: Lee Idzi; Kyle Graves; Richard Evans (85 minutes for Rhys Dalling); Lee Jarman; Mark Dodds; Jamie Bradford; Chris O’Sullivan; Danny Thomas; Neil Thomas (76 minutes for Kristian Griffiths); Steffan Williams (76 minutes Tom Ramasut); Lee Hudgell (45 minutes for Jack Christopher).

Impressive Bluebirds maintain unbeaten winning streak
Haverfordwest County 1 – West End 0
The Bluebirds maintained their impressive unbeaten streak with a slender one-goal victory over West End at the New Bridge Meadow on Tuesday evening.
This was the home side’s second straight win from three starts, which puts them in good heart for the mouth-watering visit of Cardiff City this Saturday, 31st July, kick off is at 2.30pm.
The only goal of the friendly fixture came in the 29th minute. New signing Lee Jarman rose highest at a corner, and his firm downward header fell invitingly for Steffan Williams to bundle the ball over the goal line.
Minutes earlier, West End goalkeeper Richard Evans pulled off a fantastic save to deny Neil Thomas, the Bluebirds’ skipper struck a wicked shot that had goal written all over it, but Evans, somehow acrobatically palmed the ball onto the crossbar.
Derek Brazil’s impressive looking Bluebirds kept possession comfortably with centre-back Jarman pulling the strings at the back alongside Mark Doods, Kyle Graves and Kristian Griffiths, who formed a strong defensive quartet. Bluebirds’ goalkeeper Lee Idzi had a relatively quiet night, as the Welsh League Division One visitors who fired a blank in front of goal.
Chris O’Sullivan starred in a central midfield role alongside skipper Neil Thomas and Terry Evans, plus Lee Hudgell was a menacing threat down the left and Steffan Williams was busy on the right. New signing Danny Thomas made some neat touches and always looked to keep the ball to feet.
Both sides made a lot of changes in the second period, giving all the squad players game time in an effort to ensure everyone is match fit come the start of the Welsh Premier season that will kick-off on Saturday, August 14th.

Bluebirds stun visitors with two late goals
Haverfordwest County 2 – Cambrian & Clydach 1
Haverfordwest County came from behind to snatch two late goals and claim victory from the jaws of defeat against Cambrian & Clydach at the New Bridge Meadow on Saturday afternoon.
Cambrian & Clydach are from the Rhondda Valley, finished runners-up in last season’s Welsh League Division One table, and gave the Welsh Premier Bluebirds a decent run for their money.
After a goalless first period, the visitors took first blood, as lively striker Jason Bertoreili made no mistake from inside the box just five minutes after the interval. Steffan Williams and Neil Thomas both scored late to earn their side a late reprieve.
The visitors\' goal visibly rocked the Bluebirds, and Bertoreili could have scored a hat-trick, the striker missed an open goal and struck Lee Idzi’s right-hand post with a wicked right-footed 18-yard volley.
Manager Derek Brazil gave a lot of his younger players a chance to shine. Jack Jones was solid at left back, centre back Mark Dodds looked in fine fettle alongside Kristian Palmer and Kyle Graves in defence.
Chris O’Sullivan worked tirelessly in the heart of midfield, plus skipper Neil Thomas made some penetrating runs and Jamie Bradford always looked to get involved. Lee Hudgell was menacing on the left side of midfield, as did Steffan Williams on the right. Vincent Atyuei found little space up front in the first half, as did his substitute Luke Robinson in the second period.
The home side failed to create any fluency to their game despite substitutes Rhys Dalling, Rob Morgans and Dorian Davies all trying to make an impression.
A goal behind and with five minutes before full time the Bluebirds finally crafted a well-worked equaliser. Defender Kyle Graves made good ground down the right wing and his well-measured cross-enabled Steffan Williams to instinctively whip a shot into the roof of the net.
Two minutes from the final whistle and Neil Thomas popped up with the winner, after brilliant work down the left from Hudgell it left the Bluebirds’ skipper with an easy toe-poke finish.
The Bluebirds’ next friendly is on Tuesday, 27th July where they face Welsh League Division One outfit West End, kick-off is at 7.30pm and next Saturday, 31st July they entertain Cardiff City at the New Bridge Meadow, kick-off is at 2.30pm.

Jarman rejoins Bluebirds from the Reds
Pembrokeshiresport.co.uk can reveal that Haverfordwest County have re-signed Lee Jarman from Llanelli today.
The vastly experienced 32-year-old centre-back made 35 appearances for the Bluebirds in the 2008/09 season, where he scored twice.
Manager Derek Brazil is delighted that he has convinced Jarman to return to the Bridge Meadow and bolster the Bluebirds’ defence.
The former Wales under 21 international made over 100 appearances in the English League, where he played for Cardiff City and had also had spells with Newport County, Exeter City, Oxford United, Weston Super Mare and also played in the League of Wales for Barry Town.
Haverfordwest County face Cambrian & Clydach this Saturday (24th July) in their second pre-season friendly, and kick-off is scheduled for 2.30pm.

Christopher strikes twice as Bluebirds settle for a draw against Afan Lido
Haverfordwest County 2 - Afan Lido 2
Afan Lido grabbed a late equaliser to salvage a draw with Haverfordwest County at the magnificent looking Bridge Meadow Stadium on Friday night.
The ring-rusty Bluebirds took a while to settle with new signings Richard Evans, Neil Smothers, skipper Neil Thomas and substitute Rhys Dalling, all making an impression. New Bluebirds’ striker Danny Thomas pulled out with a calf strain, but will surely be relishing linking up with Jack Christopher, who looked sharp up front alongside Luke Robinson.
The Welsh Division One outfit took an early lead, in the first pre-season friendly, when totally unmarked Shaun Galsworthy powered home a header from inside the box at a corner.
However, the Bluebirds equalised in the 28th minute. A neat build up down the right touch line where Steffan Williams cleverly created space for deadly striker Jack Christopher to run onto a through ball and neatly slot his effort past the on-rushing Lido goalkeeper Chris Curtis. Ten minutes later and Christopher hit the target again with an absolute beauty. Once again, good awareness from lively Steffan Williams allowed Christopher the time and space to curl a shot from the edge of the 18-yard box over Curtis, to give the Bluebirds a deserved 2-1 interval lead.
The second half was a far tamer affair as both sides brought on substitutes and the fluency; tempo and pattern of the game lost its way.
Five minutes before full time and the Bluebirds defence was caught napping as Lido striker Nathan White broke clear to score an equaliser, and on the balance of play a draw was probably the right verdict.
Haverfordwest County: Lee Idzi; Terry Evans; Richard Evans; Neil Smothers; Kristian Griffiths; Steffan Williams; Chris O’Sullivan; Neil Thomas; Jack Christopher; Luke Robinson; Lee Hudgell. Substitutes: Rhys Dalling; Rob Morgan; Jamie Bradford; Tom Ramasut.

Pre-season training starts well at the Bridge Meadow Stadium
There was a full house at the Bridge Meadow Stadium when Haverfordwest County started out their pre-season training and set out on a new campaign as part of the so-called ‘Super 12’ teams now competing in the Welsh Premier League.
And although the first session was relaxed in terms of atmosphere the players were pushed hard as assistant coach Mark Evans put the players through a tough programme of exercises, which included the dreaded ‘Bleep Test’ and even had players running backwards with a tyre as an extra weight on their shoulders!
Manager Derek Brazil, who is still looking to add one further player to his squad, kept a careful eye on events as he studies the players in terms not only of fitness but of commitment and skill. Although he didn’t over-mention the need for a good start it was obvious that he is determined to have a very committed squad – and his assistant Mark Evans summed it all up when he told the players, prior to the warm-up, that the managerial team had no time for anyone ready to make excuses. “There is no ‘I’ in team,” perhaps best sums up Evans’ view of the new season.
Players push hard
Looking strong, despite being some of the senior players, were the likes of Terry Evans, Mark Dodds and Gareth Elliott, whilst the likes of Chris O’Sullivan, Lee Hudgell and Jack Christopher were eager to outshine each other in terms of pace and skill levels. Newcomer Danny Thomas looked sharp whilst talented young players of the calibre of Ricky Watts, Kristian Griffiths, Vincent Atueyi, Rob Morgans, Rhys Dalling and Luke Robinson showed they have something to offer alongside goalkeeper Lee Idzi and midfielder Tom Ramasut, both vital to plans at the Bridge Meadow.
Manager and chairman look for 100%
Asked about this campaign, manager Brazil was naturally unwilling to be over-confident but said,
“This is going to be a very tough season because the bar has been raised a great deal higher since the league has been cut to only 12 teams. We are very much aware of the need to be competitive from the start of the season and the players know how important this is that they give 100% for Haverfordwest County.”
Club chairman Rob Summons, who was watching with some interest, added,
“We are determined to stay solvent and so the manager has to budget carefully. The board backs him to the hilt within that constraint and we are looking for the club to do well – and it would be a great boost if football lovers from across the county come to watch matches at the Bridge Meadow whenever they can!”

Haverfordwest County Golf Day:
Jack scores before season starts
Haverfordwest County’s ace goal scorer Jack Christopher showed his competitive edge as he organised a family-based quartet to enter the club’s annual golf day – and they came in as the winners to net the top prize.
Played under Stableford rules, with three of the four members of each team to score at each hole, the Christopher Clan scored a massive 131 points to coast home by nine shots from Phil Owens’ Electrical team and the foursome from Exeldent, who came third on countback from the Ocky White team that has won in recent years and led, as usual, led by Paul ‘Reload’ Davies.
Family affair
Jack, who plays off a very competitive 28, was joined by his younger brother Sam on the same handicap, father Andrew (playing off 20) and nine-handicapper Neil Thomas, who happens to be the dad of Jack’s girl-friend Carly! They made an excellent start with nine points at the first hole, and had a minimum of six points at any hole to the turn, where they had accumulated 66 points.
Things went even better as they even picked up 10 points at the par-4 12th hole but they finally messed up for the only time at the par-4 16th hole. They recovered well, however, and a second half total of 65 points saw them finish on an excellent 131 total.
Phill’s team lights up the course
Phill Owen Electricals sent out a strong team where Mark Davies plays off a handicap of 7 and former Haverfordwest rugby players Dai John and Denzil Davies were respectively playing off 13 and 15, whilst Dai Morgan rounded the team’s balance off nicely with a handicap of 28. The amassed 60 points at the half-way stage and a late charge saw them pick up 30 points from the final four holes to secure second spot with 122 points.
Just a point behind was the team from Exeldent, which had Richard Davies (12), Craig Morrissey (15), John Bauer (18), and Gary Corby (22) joining forces, scoring 60 and 61 on the two halves of the course as they eased home on 121 points.
David says ‘thank you’
Haverfordwest County’s commercial director David Hughes, who organised the event, was pleased with the day and thanked all who turned up to take part, especially the team from Swansea which featured former star players Jason Jones and Martin James, plus Haverfordwest Golf Club for use of their splendid course. Other teams came from much closer to home, like those from Ocky White and the Western Telegraph, and ensured a great day which ended with an excellent meal and the presentation ceremony.

Special celebrations for Bluebirds’ academy team
The Under 12’s boys at Haverfordwest County’s Academy of Football celebrated reaching the finals of the U12's Academy Cup with a presentation at Heatherton Country Park, thanks to the generosity of Mr Charles Davies, who is himself a regular football referee.
The boys enjoyed taking part in various activities around the campus and a meal before being presented with their runners-up medals by Swansea and Wales’ star, Joe Allen.
Congratulations – and thanks!
Coach Angie Nicholls congratulated the boys, who had only lost one game all season (albeit the final!), and thanked the parents for their support over the year.
The boys would like to thank Joe for presenting their medals, posing for numerous photographs and signing autographs for them, and to Angie Nicholls for all her time and effort spent on their behalf.

Great news for Bluebirds as Brazil swoops for new skipper Thomas
Great news for Haverfordwest County fans is the return of a key player because the Bluebirds have swooped to sign experienced midfielder Neil Thomas from Port Talbot Town.
The talented playmaker returns to the Bridge Meadow after twelve months away, despite earlier speculation that he would be moving back to North Wales. A delighted Derek Brazil spoke to PembrokeshireSport.co.uk this afternoon and said:
"I\'m really pleased to announce that Neil Thomas has returned to Haverfordwest County. He was originally supposed to be moving, but his plans have changed and he's come back to the club.
"I know that there were two or three other clubs interested in Tommo and some were offering more money, so I\'m delighted that he has chosen to come back to us. As soon as I heard that he was interested in a return to the Bridge Meadow, I contacted him and was delighted at the way he was so positive. Everything he does is positive and that will rub off on everyone around him at the club."
Captaincy drive
Thomas has also been appointed as Brazil's captain for the 2010/11 season and the Irishman added;
"As the new captain of the club, I know that he will bring the best out of the players around him."
Brazil explained that his new skipper felt that he had unfinished business with Haverfordwest, having really enjoyed his previous eighteen months at the Bridge Meadow, but Thomas was quick to thank his previous club after a very good season at the GenQuip Stadium.
"It was a wrench to leave Port Talbot Town and I really want to thank the fans, the club and Joner (Manager) for giving me a great year at the club. I wish them the very best of luck for Europe and I sincerely hope that they do really well."
Future plans
Brazil also indicated his future plans in the transfer market and added;
"I\'ve brought in Danny Thomas and Neil and I may bring only one more player in. I certainly won’t bring in anybody who is not better than the current squad that I have. We have a good balance of youth and experience and youngsters like Ricky Watts, Steffan Williams and Josh Hartrick gained valuable first-team experience last year and they will only get better as well."

Staunton stars at Bluebirds’ dinner
Haverfordwest County held their annual dinner at The Pavilion on the Withybush Site last weekend and guest of honour Steve Staunton maintained the Bluebirds’ tradition for having top quality guest speakers.
He followed in the football boot prints of Nobby Stiles, John Charles, Peter Lorimer, Duncan McKenzie, John Toshack, Mark Delaney, and Dion Dublin as he regaled the audience of almost 180 with stories of his playing days at Liverpool, Aston Villa and the Republic Ireland, for whom he played a record-breaking 102 times.
In a brisk question and answer session, co-ordinated by MC Bill Carne, he didn’t duck a single question or issue, talking about the Roy Keane/Mick McCarthy incident in the World Cup, his time as Irish manager, his playing greats, with and against, and some witty stories about some of the real characters of the game, including his fellow Irishman Derek Brazil.
The Boss has the Blarney!
Grace was undertaken by club director Barry Vaughan, who also echoed the view of all involved that Ronnie Beynon was sorely missed, wishing Ronnie and his family all the best. Mark White of sponsors Ocky White’s, set the scene for the evening with his toast to the club, which was answered at length by club manager Derek Brazil, who again showed that he has definitely kissed the Blarney Stone in his younger days as he recounted his own inimitable view of the season. He again showed he has lost none of his oral skills as he thanked chairman Rob Summons and commercial director David Hughes, plus everyone else involved at the club
Player awards
Mr Brazil also volunteered to announce the awards, which were presented by Steve Staunton, which were as follows:
Jonathan Clark (reserve team player of the year), Jamie Bradford (goal of the season), Terry Evans (manager’s player of the year, and players’ player of the year), Mandy and Alan Thomas (Club people of the year), Jamie Grimes (manager’s young player of the year and Jehu-sponsored supporters’ association player of the year), Jack Jones (youth coaches’ player of the year) and Greg Brown (most improved youth player of the year), Rob Morgan (youth players’ player of the year).
The evening was rounded off in fine style by Lloyd Davies, one of the top comedians on the South Wales circuit, who had his audience in stitches with his typically Welsh humour.
Last but by no means least the club want to thank Mike, Mark and Nigel Delaney for using their influence to get Steve Staunton to be this year’s guest.
Our picture, taken by Kevin Bryce, shows all the award winners with Steve Staunton (centre), other than Rob Morgans, who was unable to attend.

Bluebirds finish season on winning note – now they await their Welsh Premier destiny
Haverfordwest County 3 goals –
Caersws 1 goal
Haverfordwest County finished the season on a winning note, but will it be enough to stay in the Welsh Premier? – Now the club will have to wait.
Other results didn\'t go as planned for the Bluebirds on the final day of the season. Carmarthen Town beat Newi Cefn Druids 4-0 at home, plus Bala Town drew 0-0 with Port Talbot, the Bluebirds finish their season in 12th spot, and will now have to await their destination during the summer, when the Welsh Premier will be restructured.
TNS finished the season as champions, beating Aberystwyth 3-1 in their own backyard. Llanelli are runners-up after picking up an emphatic 5-1 victory at
Prestatyn.
The Bluebirds opened the scoring in the 17th minute against second from bottom Caersws. Lee Hudgell made huge inroads in the Caersws defence and slipped an excellent through ball to striker Jack Christopher. The striker ran clear to neatly tuck the ball past outstretched visiting goalkeeper David Jones, for his 14th goal of the season.
Minutes earlier, and Jamie Bradford skied an indirect free kick over the visitors’ crossbar. Kyle Graves chanced his arm with a long-range effort. Steffan Williams really should have added a second; the diminutive striker through on goal - but his low drive took a deflection as it agonisingly brushed past Jones’ right-hand post. The Bluebirds scored a brilliant second goal in 38th minute. Graves scored with a wonder 25-yard strike that flew to the top right-hand corner of the net, keeper Jones not getting a sniff of it. The home side were good value for their two-goal cushion at the break, but manager Brazil probably must have felt that they should have scored more; such was their territorial dominance over their mid-Wales opponents.
The home side added a third goal four minutes after the break. Kyle Graves won a bone-crunching tackle in the middle, the ball broke to Christopher, and he unselfishly crossed for co-striker Steffan Williams to bundle the ball into the net from the far post.
Within minutes of scoring the home side conceded from a corner where Geraint Lewis made no mistake from a scramble in the box.
No further goals – but the Bluebirds will now keep everything crossed as they hope to play in the Welsh Premier next season.

Late Dodds goal earns Bluebirds a draw with Old Gold
Carmarthen Town 2 goals –
Haverfordwest County 2 goals
Haverfordwest County came twice from behind to gain a draw with derby rivals Carmarthen Town at Richmond Park on Tuesday night.
Deryn Brace’s Old Gold outfit led by just one goal at half time. Dale Griffiths was in the right place at the right time. Three minutes after the break and the visitors equalised through striker Jack Christopher. But within a few minutes of getting back in the clash the Bluebirds went behind again as Nathan Cotterall found the back of Lee Idzi’s net. Former Carmarthen player Mark Dodds grabbed an important equaliser eight minutes from the end to earn the Bluebirds a precious league point against their derby rivals.
Now it all hinges on the last game of the season this Saturday, as the Bluebirds still in 12th position aim to finish in the top ten. Derek Brazil’s outfit have to beat Caersws at home, and then keep finger’s crossed that other results go their way. They will want the Old Gold to drop points at home against Elements Cefn Druids and Newtown to lose at Bangor City, and also Bala Town to lose at Port Talbot.

Hat-trick hero Chris is too sharp for Bluebirds
Total Network Solutions 4 goals – Haverfordwest County 0 goals
Chris Sharp scored a sublime hat-trick to edge TNS closer to the title after easily defeating Haverfordwest County at home.
League leaders led by one-goal at the break, thanks to striker Sharp, son of Everton legend Graeme, scoring in the 26th minute.
Sharpe added furthers goals, the second five minutes after the interval to put TNS in the driving seat. Hotshot Sharp completed a hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute. Phil Baker was also on target with a fourth ten minutes from full time to complete a miserable afternoon for the travelling Bluebirds.
The Bluebirds play a crunch clash at Richmond Park where they face Carmarthen Town this Tuesday evening (20th April) as they aim for a place in next season’s restructured Welsh Premier.
The Bluebirds’ final league match of the season is at home against second from bottom Caersws next Saturday (24th April).

Bluebirds make their point at Stebonheath
Llanelli 1 goal – Haverfordwest County 1 goal
Haverfordwest County dented Llanelli’s league title prospects by gaining a thoroughly deserved draw at Stebonheath Park tonight.
After this poor result the Reds are now eight points behind leaders TNS, and if they win both their games in hand they’ll still be two points adrift.
After the Bluebirds’ disappointing home defeat to Rhyl in their last league outing, this result has given Derek Brazil’s outfit a confidence boost for their tough trip to league leaders TNS this Saturday (17th April).
Haverfordwest County stay 12th in the table on the same points as Carmarthen Town, but they are behind on goal-difference. Andy Legg’s Reds see this result as two points dropped instead of a point gained.
Both goals came in a pulsating first period. Reds’ top quality striker Rhys Griffiths gave his side a 16th minute lead. But right on the stroke of half-time, the visitors’ left-sided midfielder Lee Hudgell equalised, scoring his second goal in succession.
Both teams created further goal scoring opportunities in the second half to win it, but both failed miserably to snap them up as it finished all square.
Llanelli: Craig Morris; Lee Phillips; Michael Howard; Chris Venables; Stuart Jones; Lee Jarman; Jason Bowen; Chris Holloway; Rhys Griffiths; Jordan Follows; Craig Moses. Substitutes: Andrew Mumford; Andy Legg; Owain Warlow; Kieran Hayes; Craig Richards.

Connolly’s brace inspires Rhyl to superb comeback victory over stunned Bluebirds
Haverfordwest County 2 goals – Rhyl 4 goals
A stunning second half fight back by Rhyl ensured that they picked-up three precious league points over stunned Haverfordwest County at the Bridge Meadow.
This was a classic tale of two halves; the first belonged to the hosts while the second was controlled by the visitors.
Lilywhites\' striker Mark Connolly scored a brace alongside others by Tyrone Kirk and Matthew Williams to run out comfortable winners.
This was the Bluebirds first defeat in seven, but possibly, they played their best football this season in the first period, while in the second period they were woeful.
The visitors could have taken an early lead, but Matthew Williams rattled the crossbar with a stinging right footed effort, but it would not have counted as the striker was flagged for offside.
The home side got off to a dream start and scored the opener in the sixth minute when Lee Hudgell broke clear and neatly tucked the ball past Jack Cudworth.
The Bluebirds scored a second goal with a peach of a header from Jack Christopher from a corner in the 23rd minute for his 12th goal of the season.
Derek Brazil’s Bluebirds deservedly held a two-goal cushion at the break.
However, Lilywhites\' player manager Greg Strong got his side firing on all cylinders in the second half as they came storming back to claim an unlikely victory.
Rhyl pulled two goals back in the space of a minute. Striker Mark Connolly wasn’t closed down on the edge of the box and he rifled his shot low and hard past Idzi on 58 minutes. Again some sloppy Bluebirds defending on 59 minutes allowed substitute Tyrone Kirk to ghost into the box and score an equaliser from inside the six-yard box.
Connolly hammered home his second to give the visitors the lead - and right on the final whistle Mark Williams added a fourth from the edge of the area to put the result beyond doubt.

Bluebirds granted FAW Domestic & Uefa Licences
Haverfordwest County is one of only eight clubs that has been issued an FAW Domestic Licence and also qualified for UEFA Licence today.
This entitles them to take part in the restructured Welsh Premier League next season. The teams that have been granted Domestic Licences are Abeystwyth Town; Carmarthen Town; Haverfordwest County; Llanelli; Neath; Newtown; Prestatyn Town and The New Saints.
Clubs such as Rhyl, Port Talbot and Bangor City, have missed out on a Domestic Licence, but they do have the right to appeal to another independent committee. Clubs will be given ten days to submit their appeal.
Nine clubs were also granted UEFA Licences that included Bangor City and Porthmadog, who both missed out on a Domestic Licence.
“I’m delighted that we’ve been granted both licences,” said Haverfordwest County chairman Rob Summons. “We’ve worked really hard to ensure that our club is running to a high standard."
FAW Club Licensing Manager Andrew Howard said: "The First Instance Body was extremely diligent in their assessment of the clubs today and after a very long meeting, I am satisfied with their outcome."
"I firmly believe that some clubs will be successful on appeal and one certainly should rectify this within a matter of days."
It is the Football Association of Wales' strategy to have a Welsh Premier League consisting of twelve clubs next year with the domestic licence and Howard added: “I’m optimistic that we will attain that number."

Bluebirds’ impressive winning streak continues with victory in North Wales
Elements Cefn Druids 1 goals – Haverfordwest County 2 goals
Haverfordwest County impressively picked up their third win in a row after overcoming Elements Cefn Druids.
The visitors defeated the Druids at home 1-0 just a couple of weeks ago, so this sweet victory in North Wales sees the Bluebirds are currently unbeaten in their last six outings.
Conditions to say the least were difficult, a combination of a swirling wind and a bobbling pitch made life difficult at Plaskynaston.
The visitors took the lead two minutes before the break. Tom Billing’s firm drive was parried by keeper Chris Mullock, only for Jamie Bradford to react quickest in the box to fire the rebound in to the back of the net.
On the hour mark and the visitors doubled their lead. Deadly striker Jack Christopher flicked Jamie Grimes’ neat header in to the net.
Druids’ player manager Waynne Phillips was red-carded, but despite down to ten-men the hosts pulled a goal back through John Rush.
Some slack marking at the back from a corner allowed Rush the time and space to score and set-up a nervous end.
However, the Bluebirds stayed firm to collect their tenth win of the campaign, and will relish the visit of high-flying Rhyl at the Bridge Meadow this Saturday, April 10th.
“I’m always delighted to win away from home,” said Bluebirds’ manager Derek Brazil. “The boys stuck to the task and they got their just rewards. No game in this league is ever easy.”

Bluebirds give Tom the thumbs up!
Haverfordwest County 1 goal – Elements Cefn Druids 0 goals
Haverfordwest County gained their second league win on the bounce after narrowly overcoming Elements Cefn Druids at the Bridge Meadow on Saturday (27th March) afternoon.
This was a clash that Bluebirds’ manager Derek Brazil had targeted as a ‘must win’ game against the bottom of the table North Walians.
With only half a dozen games remaining this season, this win keeps their Welsh Premier hopes very much alive.
The crucial goal came a minute before half time when midfielder Tom Ramasut got the all-important scoring touch to earn the Bluebirds three crucial league points.
Haverfordwest County stay in 12th spot, now sitting just a point behind 11th placed Carmarthen Town who lost 2-1 at home to Newtown in 13th position, and who are two points adrift of the Bluebirds.
The Bluebirds face a tough test when they travel to high-flying Llanelli for their next league clash on Good Friday 2nd April.

Saint Christopher bags two-goals in shock away victory at Neath Athletic
Neath Athletic 1 goal – Haverfordwest County 2 goals
Jack Christopher’s successful 90th minute penalty earned Haverfordwest County a vital away victory over eighth placed Neath Athletic at the Gnoll on Sunday afternoon.
This was their eighth win of the season and sees the Bluebirds leapfrog Newtown back to 12th in the table.
The Bluebirds have drawn their last three league matches, so this excellent away win will have surely pleased Bluebirds manager Derek Brazil.
The visitors trailed one-nothing at the interval as Matthew Harris gave the home side a 43rd minute lead. But the Bluebirds showed true character to bounce back quickly. Two minutes after the interval and in-form striker Jack Christopher equalised.
In an end-to-end second period the Bluebirds’ luck changed when they were awarded a late injury time penalty and Christopher confidently despatched from 12-yards, earning the visitors their first win in six outings.

Bluebirds drop points again after poor home draw against Bala Town
Haverfordwest County 1 goal – Bala Town 1 goal
For the second successive home game in five days Haverfordwest County could only manage a disappointing draw, this time against Bala Town at the Bridge Meadow.
In the Bluebirds’ last five outings they’ve lost twice and drawn three times - picking up just three points from a possible 15. Bluebirds’ manager Derek Brazil is feeling the pressure as the Bluebirds got to finish in the top 12 to make certain they stay in the newly structured Welsh Premier ‘Super-12’ next season.
The Bluebirds remain 12th in the table while Bala Town are two places above them in tenth spot.
The home side led one-nothing at the break. Central midfielder Tom Ramasut scored from a rebound in the second minute to give the Bluebirds a dream start.
Tom Billing should have added a second – but his goal-bound effort was blocked by desperate Bala defending.
The visitors should have equalised when Mark Harris’ wicked drive struck the angle of the crossbar. A real let off for the Bluebirds.
However, a minute after the break and visitors equalised through Ricky Evans, a soft goal which stemmed from a free kick, as everyone stood still in the box and watched as the ball found the back of the net. Neither keeper was tested after that effort. The Bluebirds lost impetus when Mark Dodds (rib injury) and Ramasut (troubled knee), both left the field injured as the hosts lacked urgency to go on and score a winner on a glorious spring sun-drenched Sunday afternoon.
Haverfordwest County: Lee Idzi; Terry Evans; Mark Dodds; Kyle Graves, Gareth Elliott; Sean Jones; Chris O’Sullivan; Tom Ramasut; Tom Billing; Jack Christopher; Lee Hudgell. Substitutes: Jamie Bradford; Jamie Grimes; Nicky Woodrow; Josh Hartrick.

Bluebirds pay penalty as Prestatyn steal late point
Haverfordwest County 3 goals – Prestatyn Town 3 goals
Mike Parker’s injury time penalty equaliser cruelly denied Haverfordwest County a morale-boosting victory over Prestatyn Town on Wednesday night at the Bridge Meadow.
The Bluebirds were leading 3-2 and seemed to have the precious league points in the bag, but a handball in the box allowed Parker to drill his penalty down the middle and hand the north Walians a draw when all looked lost.
That cruel late spot-kick just about summed up the poor old Bluebirds’ luck, striker Jack Christopher should have grabbed the headlines, the striker scored a hat-trick, scoring twice with his head and slotted a penalty to give his side a 3-2 lead after Tom Billing was brought down in the box.
The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute. Some slack Bluebirds marking from a corner allowed centre half Paul O’Neill far too much space to plant a firm header into the back of the home outfit’s net.
However, the lead was short-lived when Christopher equalised two minutes later, the striker rose highest in the box to header home a Lee Hudgell corner.
On the stroke of half time the hosts took the lead, Chris O’Sullivan’s cross from the right was firmly met by a second Christopher header inside the box.
The visitors equalised midway through the second period as striker John Fisher-Cooke stroked the ball past Lee Idzi across the face of goal.
Five minutes from time and Christopher completed a hat-trick from the penalty spot. Mark Dodds had a header cleared off the line by the visitors, also Billing came close to adding a fourth, but right at the death Parker also scored from the spot to deny the Bluebirds three vital league points.
This coming Sunday, 14th March the Bluebirds entertain Bala Town at the Bridge Meadow, kick-off 2.30 pm.

Bluebirds draw a blank at Porthmadog
CPD Porthmadog 0 goals - Haverfordwest County 0 goals
Haverfordwest County had to settle for a disappointing goalless draw at CPD Porthmadog.
The visitors had targeted this match as a possible win, but manager Derek Brazil won’t feel to disappointed that his Bluebirds\' outfit came away with a precious point.
As the scoreline suggests there wasn’t a lot of action in front of goal, but Tomi Morgan’s Porthmadog outfit remain 16th in the table, while the Bluebirds also stay 12th.
The Bluebirds have two home games at the Bridge Meadow in the space of five days. Firstly, they entertain Prestatyn Town on Wednesday 10th March, kick-off 7.30pm and secondly, on Sunday 14th March they face Bala Town with a 2.30pm kick-off.

Jack and Lee receive coveted Welsh caps from Des Shanklin
There was a nice moment at the Bridge Meadow Stadium prior to Haverfordwest County’s recent match against Porthmadog when Jack Christopher and Lee Idzi received their coveted Welsh caps from Bluebirds’ president Des Shanklin.
Both had been selected for the Wales semi-professional squad in Northern Ireland recently and had played well, with Jack amongst the scorers as he headed home after only three minutes at Shamrock Park, Belfast, and Lee playing well between the sticks after he came on later in the 2-2 draw after Wales had been reduced to only nine men.
They clearly did enough to impress the management team because both were again included for Wales’ second match in the International Challenge Trophy which takes place today (3rd March) against Portugal at the Municipal Stadium of Fatima.
Increasing cap levels
It will boost their cap tallies because Jack has already played twice for Wales at under 23 level and once before for the semi-pro squad, whilst Lee has played three times each for the under 23s and the semi-pro teams.
Club chairman Rob Summons said that he was delighted for both players as he told us. “Both have worked hard for their success and we at the Bridge Meadow are very proud of them. We were also thrilled that our president, Mr Des Shanklin, has recovered from his recent broken ankle, sustained in the snow, and was able to be with us. It will have meant a great deal to both players that they were able to receive their caps from Des.”
PembrokeshireSport.co.uk joins those at the Bridge Meadow Stadium in congratulating both talented young players – and we wish them continued success at this high level.

Stephens’ double spells trouble for Bluebirds
Haverfordwest County 1 goal – Newtown 2 goals
Ross Stephens struck a last minute winner to earn Newtown the double over stunned Haverfordwest County at the Bridge Meadow.
The in-form striker scored in the 13th minute after capitalising on some sloppy Bluebirds’ defending, and pounced again with a late winner to help the Powys outfit close the gap on their opponents in the league to within four points and have a game in hand. The Bluebirds stay 12th, while Newtown remain 13th in the table.
This was a dreadful result for the home outfit, this clash was termed a “six-pointer” and Derek Brazil’s outfit came out of this “must win clash” with absolutely nothing.
Former Bluebird midfielder Dylan Blain enjoyed his first visit back in Newtown colours after leaving the Bridge Meadow earlier this season.
Lee Hudgell and Jack Christopher saw chances blocked by goalkeeper David Roberts – but Nicky Woodrow missed a gilt-edged opportunity from inside the six-yard box, when it looked easier to score than miss.
Midway through the second period the home side equalised when Chris O’Sullivan's floated free kick into the box was headed home by Christopher.
Christopher should have put the home outfit ahead but his second header flew past the target. Right at the death the visitors pinched three precious points as deadly Stephens steered his shot past Lee Idzi.

Christopher bags two goals in away defeat at hands of Bangor
Bangor City 3 goals – Haverfordwest County 2
Despite Jack Christopher scoring twice for the visitors they can count themselves rather unlucky to come away from Farrar Road, home of Bangor City, with nothing.
The visitors got out of the blocks quickest as Christopher scored with barely two minutes on the clock following a neat short-corner. The striker finished with a simple far post tap-in.
Within ten minutes Craig Garside slotted past Lee Idzi for the equaliser. Midway through the first period and Jamie Reed added the home side’s second to make it 2-1 at the break.
The visitors equalised shortly after the break as Christopher rounded home keeper Paul Smith and slotted the ball ball in to the empty net.
Substitute Ashley Stott added a third in the 77th minute, and this goal turned out to be the winner.
The Bluebirds finished strongly as Bangor’s goalkeeper Smith pulled off fine saves to deny Nicky Woodrow and a well-directed Tom Ramasut free kick to secure the points for the home outfit.

Mark uses head to score Bluebirds’ timely late winner against Nomads
Haverfordwest County 1 goal –
GAP Connah’s Quay 0 goals
Mark Dodds’ 88th minute headed winner earned Haverfordwest County three precious league points against GAP Connah’s Quay at the Bridge Meadow on Sunday afternoon.
Central defender Dodds gambled on pushing forward late on and was fully rewarded when he rose highest in the box to score with a peach of a header.
It was no more than Derek Brazil’s Bluebirds deserved. After a goalless first period, which lacked goalmouth action, the goal when it came was the icing on the cake for Dodds who pounced two minutes from full time.
The visitors could have taken the lead in the very first minute when Nomads’ striker Michael Hayes missed a glaring eight-yard volley, flashing his effort agonisingly past home goalkeeper Lee Idzi’s right-hand post.
On a bitterly cold afternoon there wasn’t a lot of goalmouth action to warm up the fans, that was until the last quarter of an hour, as the Bluebirds pressed hard in search for a winner.
Tom Billing replaced Jack Christopher up front; the six-feet five striker caused no end of problems for the visitors defence as he came in to the fray. Also Josh Hartrick replaced Chris O’Sullivan wide out in midfield and he also looked menacing.
A draw looked well and truly on the cards. Lee Hudgell struck the post with a wicked low drive, but a minute later and Hudgell’s teasing cross provided the scoring opportunity for Dodds to nod home a timely winner.
This was the Bluebirds seventh win of the season, and they remain in twelfth spot on goal-difference and with the same number of points as eleventh placed Carmarthen Town, who have a game in hand.

Rose proves a thorn in Bluebirds’ side
Port Talbot Town 1 goal – Haverfordwest County 0 goals
Martin Rose grabbed the only goal of the match to secure a narrow victory for Port Talbot Town over Haverfordwest County at The GenQuip Stadium on Friday night.
The Steelmen lost narrowly lost 1-0 at league leaders TNS last week, but returned to winning ways thanks to striker Rose’s 63rd minute header after Haverfordwest conceded a free kick outside the box and Liam McCreesh whipped in a cross which Rose headed past a helpless Lee Idzi in the Bluebirds\' goal.
This was the Steelmen’s 11th win of the season, while the visitors slipped to their eighth defeat of the campaign and remain 12th in the table. Port Talbot had the clearer first half chances as Idzi twice saved well from Drew Fahiya, Rose and then Scott Barrow. At the other end, Lee Kendall had a fairly quiet period but did well near the break to parry a stinging left foot drive from Tom Ramuset but it was always going to be a tall order for the Bluebirds to claim anything from the stronger looking Steelmen, who are one of the better teams in the Welsh Premier.
The second period followed a similar fashion as former Bluebirds star Neil Thomas bossed the midfield for the Steelmen and he put a shot just wide before Lee De Vilgt fired a free kick wide of the far post. But a goal was bound to come and after Rose had given Port Talbot the lead they still had other chances, including a brilliant double block by Idzi to keep out Barrow and Fahiya.
The Bluebirds best period came late in the game as Hartrick appeared on the right but Kendall was rarely under pressure, other than when he conceded a free kick in his own box, and Port Talbot eased through to take the vital points.
Port Talbot Town: Lee Kendall; Leigh De Vilgt; Lloyd Grist; Karl Lewis; Matthew Rees; Lee Surman; Scott Barrow; Neil Thomas; Martin Rose; Liam McCreesh; Drew Fahiya. Substitutes: Lee John; Nicky Woodrow; Daniel Thomas.

Haverfordwest County Academy versus Llanelli Academy
A satisfying day all round for the Academy recently as they welcomed Llanelli in the FAW Academy cup at under 12, 14 and 16’s and development centre sides at under 9, 10 and 11.
Under 12s:
Bluebirds 12 Llanelli 1
The young blues put in an excellent performance to easily overcome their opponents on the main pitch at the Bridge Meadow. Goals from Max Fulthorpe (3), Dafydd Bevan (3), George Taylor (2), and one each from Geraint Harries, Luke Billing, Daniel Omeregie and William Haworth made up the total.
Under 14s:
Bluebirds 5 Llanelli 1
The under 14’s were well in control in this game and ran out comfortable winners in the end with goals from Jac Pepper (2) Corey Lowndes, Laurie Haworth and Richard Tebbutt.
Under 16s:
Bluebirds 1 Llanelli 4
After a bright start and a well-taken 20yd drive from Josh Reynolds the under 16’s fell away during the second half and Llanelli benefitted from some neat football to run out winners.
Development Centre games:
Both clubs started to run development centres last season and have entered into regular fixtures this season, these games were played on the Astroturf at Sir Thomas Picton.
Under 9s:
Bluebirds 17 Llanelli 1
A superb display saw both teams play open football with the young Blues creating the better chances and finishing well. Goals from Cameron Thomas (4) Ben Fawcett (4) Zac Rowell (3) Jake Houston (2) and one each from Jack Scriven, Jay Power, Gethin Bradney and John Mansbridge made up the total.
Under 10s:
Bluebirds 6 Llanelli 0
The under 10s showed good composure on the ball and excellent team work to overcome a hard working Llanelli side. Jaden Elliott (3) Adam Tamilla, Jay Dalkin and Harrison Duckett scored the goals.
Under 11s:
Bluebirds 0 Llanelli 7
With the bulk of the under 11 squad playing in Tenby against South Ceredigion mot of this side was made up of under 10 players and although they tried their best the Llanelli side were too strong for them.
All in all, the turn out from players and supporters was excellent and the football played showed that Pembrokeshire has a wealth of talent throughout the county, and the development at the Bridge Meadow goes from strength to strength.
- On Monday, 1st February, the Welsh schools under 18’ took on English colleges under 19’s on TNS’s 3G pitch in North Wales and ran out 3-2 winners, with current 1st team player and a product of the academy, Steffan Williams, scoring the winner. Two-goal joy for Steffan in Bluebirds’ excellent away victory
Welshpool Town 1 goal -

Lively teenager striker Steffan Williams struck two second half goals to ensure Haverfordwest County won at Welshpool Town.
The talented young striker, capped by Wales under 18s in midweek, showed his true pedigree by snapping up two brilliant goal-scoring opportunities to earn his side three valuable away points.
The visitors showed their intent as central midfielder Jamie Bradford gave the Bluebirds a 23rd minute lead.
Manager Derek Brazil was happy with his side’s first half display, but urged them to attack more in the second period.
Lee Hudgell replaced Tom Ramasut in the 55th minute and wide-side midfielder who signed back earlier this week gave the visitors more urgency in attack. Nicky Woodrow came on for Tom Billing on the hour mark and Lee Bevan replaced Gareth Elliott in defence.
The Lilywhites were constantly put under pressure and cracked as Williams struck in the 52nd and 63rd minutes to effectively kill-off the match.
The hosts did reply through George Hughes four minutes from the end, but by that stage the points were already safely in the Bluebirds’ bag.

Lee Hudgell returns to Bridge Meadow
Lee Hudgell has just put pen to paper this afternoon (Wednesday) and signed Welsh Premier League forms with Haverfordwest County.
The brilliant left-sided midfielder left the Bridge Meadow a few of seasons ago to travel down under to New Zealand and Australia, and he also had a short spell at Carmarthen Town.
Hudgell has been a big influence this season playing for Merlins Bridge, who currently top Pembrokeshire League Division One.
Bluebirds’ manager Derek Brazil is delighted that Hudgell is back, with his blistering pace and wicked left-foot Hudgell is a potent attacking force and capable of causing any defence in the Welsh Premier a headache.
This is Hudgell’s second spell with the Bluebirds; in his first spell he made 152 appearances 29 from the bench and struck 27 goals. This hot of the press signing is a big boost for the Bluebirds as they push to finish in the top ten, which is so important this season.

Double delight at the Bridge Meadow Stadium
There was great delight at the Bridge Meadow Stadium last week when two of County's talented youth players, who have both featured for the first team this season, represented Wales.
Steffan Williams and Ricky Watts played in the Welsh Schools under 18 side that beat Australia 1-0 at the GenQuip Stadium in Port Talbot and there was a third Bluebird in the squad since new signing Josh Hartrick also featured in the match.
Hartrick played in the first half, whilst both Williams and Watts came on at half time and showed that they deserved their selection as they helped Wales secure an excellent win in front of an appreciative audience which included a number of supporters from the Bridge Meadow.
Included in those watching was Ronnie Beynon, the hard-working Director of Youth Coaching at Haverfordwest County and he paid tribute to all three players.
“Steffan and Ricky gave 100% commitment and I was delighted to see them earn their Welsh caps as reward for a great deal of hard work over a long period. It was no more than they deserved and they were a credit to the club and their families. It was also nice to see Josh involved and I am sure he will be a great asset to Haverfordwest County.”
The selection of these players shows the value and effectiveness of the club's youth policy, which has also produced previous Welsh internationals like Craig George, Simon Gilderdale and Dylan Blain in the past.
Haverfordwest County players help Haiti Appeal
Haverfordwest County players showed that the community awareness at the club is not just limited to the local area, when they donated 20% of their wages for the Airbus game in the Welsh Premier League to the Haiti Relief Appeal. There was also a bucket collection during the game which raised just under £50.
Club chairman Rob Summons said afterwards,
"We would like to thank all those fans who donated to such a worthy cause and especially the players, whose generosity showed what a good crowd of lads they are.”

Bluebirds drop crucial home points against Airbus
Haverfordwest 1 goal – Airbus UK Broughton 1 goal
Haverfordwest County dropped precious league points in a drawn home clash with Airbus Uk Broughton.
Marc Lloyd Williams’ early second half equaliser cancelled out Jack Christopher’s first half penalty.
Derek Brazil will feel bitterly disappointed that his side didn’t bag the points, while the visitors will definitely feel happy with a share of the spoils.
This result sees the Bluebirds remain in 12th position, while Airbus UK Broughton are four points ahead in 10th.
The Bluebirds paraded new signings Mark Dodds, Tom Billing, Josh Hartrick and Tom Ramasut in the starting line-up. The home side were also boosted with the return from injury of solid central defender Gareth Elliott.
Jamie Bradford and Tom Ramasut tested Airbus goalkeeper Kristian Rogers, but Carl Owen looked lively up front for the visitors.
On the stroke of half time Ramasut was brought down in the box for a definite penalty. Christopher sold Rogers the wrong way to give the home side a one-goal cushion at the break.
The lead was short lived because five minutes after the interval and Airbus levelled matters. Veteran striker Marc Lloyd Williams was given far too much space in the box, and the Bluebirds were punished fully as Williams struck a low hard left foot effort in the bottom corner.
Both sides went in search of victory – but come the fine whistle they had to settle for a point apiece.
