Local gymnastsLocal gymnasts make the grade

The last few weeks for Haverfordwest Gymnastics club have been extremely busy with the annual grading competitions taking place. These competitions challenge the gymnasts on four or five different pieces of apparatus (depending on which grade) and then the overall score identifies the gymnasts that are successful in passing their allocated grade.
Ellen Dalling was our youngest gymnast (aged six) who competed in the level six grade. Ellen did extremely well and picked up silver medals on bars and floor and a gold on vault.
Two weeks later our seven and eight year old gymnasts competed to pass their grade 14. Louise Mear, Katie Richards, Alexandra Allen, Ellie-Mai James & Isla Davies performed beautifully, all passing their grade easily. Also on the same day Lowri Boorman, Josie Dodd and Lauren Watts competed in grade 13. There was huge success for Josie and Lauren, who not only passed the grade but got selected to compete as part of the West Wales team in the Welsh Championships, which will take place in the next few weeks.

GymnastsOn the 19th March, five of our older gymnasts took on the challenge to pass their grade 12. With a big jump in the skills required from grade 13 this would be no easy task. However, strong performances from Ella Hayes, Ella Phillips, Sara Cox, Ceri Evans and Sara Storrow (pictured right in that order), meant that they all passed with flying colours. WELL DONE GIRLS and a big thank you to all the coaches and parents for their continued support and hard work. If anybody would like to find out more about getting involved in gymnastics please call Julia on 01437 768939 – you will be guaranteed a warm welcome!
