Dragonmark for Fishguard Flyers

Fishguard Flyers Swimming club has achieved the Dragonmark accreditation for another three years.
The Flyers were the first club in the county to achieve the Dragonmark, a quality assurance scheme run by Swim Wales.
Paul Dowey, Swimming Development Coach, praised their achievement, saying it demonstrated their commitment to quality in their programme.
The Flyers join the Tenby Dolphins, Milford Haven Tigers, and Pembroke & District as the four quality assured swimming development clubs in the county.
All the clubs are also members of Pembrokeshire County Swimming who itself holds the Dragonmark award along with Pembrokeshire County Council for its aquatics pathway, considered a flagship model of best practice.
Dragonmark is a quality assurance scheme covering the aquatics pathway, including:
·    strategic planning and water management
·    developing Authority-wide competition structure
·    developing the workforce through education and training
·    quality provision of learn to swim and school swimming
·    developing and formalising links with competitive swimming clubs
·    developing of performance and elite level swimming

Chris Weller, Regional Development Officer for Swim Wales, said the Flyers’ achievement was due to their ‘excellent work regarding the provision, development and delivery of swimming and aquatic activities’.

“This is further proof of the importance of teamwork which has again involved individuals from Fishguard and other development clubs, Pembrokeshire County Council, and Swim Wales,” he said.
