The Expert battles back to beat Bernie and earn a creditable draw

The Expert showed just why he is the best tipster in the county after beating Bernie Armstrong 5-4 in the final week of predictions and claims a draw when all looked lost. "Bernie is feeling gutted," said the Expert. "He's lost to me twice before, but he has shown true determination to claim a draw with the best tipster in Pembrokeshire - so really it's a moral victory for him - but in the cold light of day he just didn't have enough fire power to beat me." Next week there will be someone different trying his utmost to topple The Expert. "I don't care who wants to challenge me - I'm not afraid of anyone - bring it on!"

Bernie Armstrong

Can Bernard pip The Expert

in his final week?

With just a single week left of their protracted battle, Bernard Armstrong finds himself in front by a single point and in with a chance of gaining some revenge for his hidings the previous two seasons by The Expert.
Bernard was jubilant after gaining that point lead because he correctly forecast his own team’s score and scoreline.
“I’m not going to make any rash predictions but I am in the lead and looking forward to seeing the results on Saturday evening.”
But The Expert was less than impressed by Bernard as he told us,
“I’m not saying that there was any nonsense afoot but to get his own team’s scoreline correct might suggest to someone less trusting than me that his players took their foot off the pedal once they reached 3-1. I think he is an honest man but he had better not get Goodwick’s result exactly right again this Saturday or there might have to be a steward’s enquiry.”
“I can see he’s got a couple of forecasts totally wrong and I am going to exploit those errors to complete a win hat-trick over Bernard!”
Editor’s Note:
The Expert has just found out that when I contacted Bernard for his forecasts last week he wanted another 24 hours to look at form but I insisted that he do them straight off the cuff and those random guesses served him far better. He’s done the same thing again this week and a spluttering Expert told me that I should have let Bernard carry on his own way because he is a natural bletherer who would have changed his mind ten times, got totally mixed up and lost his way!

ALL WILL BE REVEALED ON SATURDAY!

Bernard’s  Forecasts

Division One:

Clarbeston Road 2 - Hakin United 8
Clarbie Road are playing well but Hakin are really firing on all cylinders with their ability to score goals, as they proved against Neyland last week. They will be too strong for Clarbie but might concede a couple of goals as they push forward.

Hundleton 3 - Merlins Bridge 5
The Bridge need to build up a winning streak and although I think Mark Powell’s boys will push them all the way, the Bridge should edge through.

Johnston 5 - Kilgetty 1
Kilgetty are really struggling and it is never easy to beat Johnston at Glebelands – but I think my pal Bobby Bevan’s boys might snatch a goal!

Neyland 3 - Haverfordwest County 1
Haverfordwest will be eager to bounce back from a heavy defeat last Saturday but I have a sneaky feeling that Neyland will beat them at the Athletic Ground.

Pennar Robins 3 - Narberth 2
Pennar did really well last Saturday in the West Wales Cup and I hope they keep that form to edge though against a Narberth side which can beat anyone on their day.

Solva 3 - Herbrandston 1
I have to go for Solva at Maes y Mor but this could be my banana skin so I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed here!

Senior Cup - Quarter Final Replay:

Goodwick United 2 - Tenby 1
This is going to be another big battle for us against a side brimming with confidence after a great win last Saturday – but we have home advantage and so I believe we will ease through by the odd goal.
