Local disability gymnasts honoured at Welsh awards
The Definitive National Awards for Welsh Gymnastics was held at The Vale Hotel, Hensol Park, on Saturday 13th November 2010, with a Pembrokeshire connection very much in evidence.
A strong local representation was present from the disability section, with Jemma Bowie-Hallam and family, Victoria Walters & Family, and Adele and Jamie Bevan and family being present.
They were rewarded with Victoria Walters being awarded Disability Female Gymnast of the Year, and Darren Briggs being awarded Disability Male gymnast of the Year. Both train with Pembrokeshire Special Needs Gymnastics Club.
Victoria is young coach of the year
The young coach of the year was awarded to Victoria Jones who is a Welsh and British Special Olympic coach who hails from Burton and has been involved for a number of years.
The disability section also wishes to congratulate Dorian Pawlett who was awarded the most promising Gymnast of the Year for Tumbling. Dorian trains with Haverfordwest Gymnastics Club.
Then, later, many members of the Welsh rugby team returned after the match and many gymnasts had photos taken with Adam Jones, James Hook, Martin Williams & George North. The rugby boys were excellent with the Disability Gymnasts and a wonderful evening was had by all.
