Haverfordwest face Gorseinon at homeRugby Preview

10th April  2010 fixtures:

Division One (West):

Cwmllynfell v Narberth
Narberth travel to play at Llangennech knowing that this is a game they should win against the bottom club in the table, who have won just twice in 16 starts. Verdict: The Otters know it is never easy on the road in this section but should win this one!

Whitland v Llangennech
Whitland entertain Llangennech in search of revenge since they lost by 14-12 when the teams met earlier in the season. Verdict: The Borderers were back to something like their best form at Bonymaen and should beat Llangennech.

Division Three (West):

Cardigan v Laugharne
Cardigan are desperate for some points to help them move out of the bottom two but old adversaries Laugharne will show them no mercy if the Teifisiders relax at all, Verdict: Laugharne are currently fifth but if Cardigan can make a good start I hope they might just edge this match!

Haverfordwest v Gorseinon
Haverfordwest maintained their excellent form last Saturday but face a far tougher proposition here as third-placed Gorseinon are the visitors who have already smashed the Blues 47-11. Verdict: Let’s hope Gorseinon arrive in confident mood because the Blues could soon show them that they are a very good side at the moment – and could well win here!

Llanybydder v Crymych
Llanybydder are traditionally not a soft touch at home but they are bottom of the table and have only one win so far this campaign, whilst Crymych are fourth and fresh from a local derby win over Cardigan. Verdict: A win for the Preseli Men – no doubt about this as a banker bet!

Division Four (West):

Hendy v Pembroke Dock Quins
The Quins beat Hendy by 23-11 at Bierspool but know that the opposition are a different kettle of fish at home, especially since the Quins don’t seem to travel well. Verdict: Sadly, I have to go with Hendy but would be delighted if the Black and Whites prove me wrong.

Pembroke v Burry Port
Pembroke are still minus a number of key players but hopefully they will have some players back for this home match against Burry Port. Verdict: The Scarlets won by 19-10 in Burry Port and I believe they can complete the double here.

Tenby United v Milford Haven
Undoubtedly the match of the day in Pembrokeshire as e rejuvenated Tenby United side entertain a Milford Haven outfit which has been in the top two all season. Verdict: This is sure to a battle royal and I wouldn’t be surprised if the result goes either way – but if pushed I would plump for the Seasiders since they have home advantage!

Division Five (West):

Aberaeron v Fishguard
Another crunch game as Aberaeron take on Fishguard in a second versus third battle where either side could win and go on to gain promotion. Verdict: If the Seagulls are at full strength then I think they will just edge it – but it is sure to be close!

Llangwm v Furnace
One of Llangwm’s only two victories this season came at Pill Parks against Furnace as they won 9-5 but this is a touch place to visit as Furnace have moved up to fourth on the back of some good performances. Verdict: The Wasps might get stung by the Furnace fire!

Neyland v Penygroes
Neyland remain top of the table but know that a win against fifth-placed Penygroes is a must to fend off the challenge of the chasing clubs. Verdict: The All Blacks will win this match – and stay top as a result.

St Davids v Swansea Uplands
One of my other banker bets this weekend as St Davies entertain lowly Swansea Uplands, a team which has so far lost all of its 15 matches. Verdict: The Saints won by 17-3 at Uplands but I expect the final margin to be a little wider, although the visitors have strengthened their squad since then.
