Rugby Preview
3rd April 2010
Division One (West):
Bonymaen v Whitland
Whitland face another tough tussle here because Bonymaen are now just a point behind the Borderers with a match in hand. Verdict: Whitland won 31-15 at home but I think Bonymaen will gain revenge here!Narberth v Tonmawr
Tonmawr are now clear leaders of the section with 14 wins from 16 starts so the Otters face a tough challenge against a side who have already beaten them 25-15. Verdict: I think Tonmawr will complete the double over the Otters.Division Three (West):
Crymych v Cardigan
This local derby will be hotly contested because both sides are desperate for points. Verdict: Cardigan are now in the relegation zone and played well at Gorseinon but I expect Crymych will snatch the verdict and stay in the top four.Llanelli Wanderers v Haverfordwest
Haverfordwest are looking good now that they are back to something like a full squad so they will travel to Llanelli in confident mood to take on ninth-placed Wanderers. Verdict: The Blues to win this one and maintain their climb up the table.Division Four (West):
Betws v Tenby United
Betws are seventh with seven wins and eight defeats as they take on a Tenby United side playing some excellent rugby. Verdict: The Seasiders are now third and I fully expect them to inflict a ninth defeat on Betws.Milford Haven v Pembroke
Local derbies are always hard to predict but Pembroke will need to show a big improvement if they are to dent the Mariners’ promotion hopes. Verdict: A home win here and the double after beating the Scarlets 32-8 at Crickmarren.Pembroke Dock Quins v Trimsaran
This is a must-win for the Quins because Trimsaran are the only side below them in the table. Verdict: I hope the Quins will succeed here and pouch a bonus point to keep them in with a chance of avoiding the big drop!Division Five (West):
Fishguard v Bynea
Fishguard won by 19-0 in Bynea and will be looking to picvk up a bonus point as well as the double. Verdict: The Seagulls should soar here if they play to form.Llangwm v St Davids
St Davids won the earlier match against Llangwm by 15-8 and will be up for the double at Pill Parks. Verdict: Llangwm played a little better last weekend but I still think the Saints will prevail.St Clears v Neyland
Matches at St Clears are never easy but Neyland are in a rich vein of form and their confidence is high. Verdict: Neyland won by 29-3 at home and should emulate that performance if they travel well.
