Team Achievement of the Year:

Tenby are the No 1 Bowls Club in Wales!

Tenby Bowls Club – Carruthers Shield Winners

Winners, Team Achievement of the Year Category

Tenby Bowls Club - Team AchievementDuring the season, Tenby Bowling Club won the Carruthers Shield – the most prestigious trophy in Welsh Bowls (for the first time in their 85-year history), and becoming the first side in Pembrokeshire to do so. As a result, they are now recognised as the number one Bowling Club in Wales.

Pembrokeshire and Welsh Champions

A 16 strong Tenby squad, aged 12 – 70 years, enjoyed a historic finals’ day which culminated in success after the team’s enthusiasm and loyalty had seen them travel all over Wales on their road to victory. Tenby are also the current Pembrokeshire League Champions with one of the highest ever points tallies.

High praise from Ysie

Everyone has played their part and the success is fully deserved. As Ysie White, a previous winner of an award and an Under16 & Under 25 International, County and Welsh Champion, said,
“I would like to thank them for their time, help, total support & encouragement – I couldn’t have done it without them!”

Welsh Gymnastics Team Members and Helpers – Gold Medal Winners

Finalists, Team Achievement of the Year Category

Welsh Gymnastics Team - FinalistsThis Team have not only attended the Special Olympic Games but all members have shown total commitment to their chosen sport, which means training weekly in Milford Haven and attending training with the Welsh Squad monthly in Cardiff.
Squad training means leaving County Hall at 730 am on a Sunday morning and training for three hours and returning home. They have all attended qualifying events in the Welsh National Comp, Poole Open, and Rotary Schools events. They were great ambassadors  for Pembs when attending the Special Olympics in Leicester, both producing good work culminating in medals. The team could not have attended without the support from their 4 young coaches who again supported the gymnasts in all events and training, but who also offered 24hr care to gymnasts during Games. The team returned to Pembs with 13 Gold medals, 12 Silver medals, 15 Bronze medals and many ribbons. All gymnasts gained confidence and developed from attending. They followed the oath “let me win, but if I cannot let me brave in the attempt”.

Cresselly Cricket Club – Double Winners and National Village Semi-Finalists

Finalists, Team Achievement of the Year Category

Cresselly Cricket Club - FinalistsThe 2009 season was a very successful one for Cresselly CC First X1 because in Pembrokeshire Cricket they were the League Division One Champions, losing only once during the season and playing some excellent cricket where the whole team were involved in producing good performances.
They also won the coveted Harrison-Allen Bowl competition, defeating Neyland in an excellent final after having to beat some very good sides on the way to the final before skipper Simon Cole raided the coveted Bowl aloft.
The team also had an excellent run in the high profile N Power National Village Cup competition before being defeated in the semi final by eventual winners Glynde & Beddingham of Sussex. After winning the Dyfed group they defeated Feniton (Devon winners), Marshfield (Gloucester winners) and then Miskin Manor (Glamorgan & Gwent winners) to become the only team from Wales in the semi-final and thus putting Pembs cricket in the National Spotlight.

All of this was achieved with local lads and an excellent team spirit within the club.
