Colin clinches Pembrokeshire’s Karting ChampionshipThe final round of the 2009 Pembrokeshire Karting Championship recently took place where Colin Mason, from Johnston, clinched the title from nearest rival Adam Jones in a nail-biting final.
With rain beginning to fall on the track, grip quickly vanished and competitors were forced to focus hard, though as the track began to dry, it was Sam Joseph from Swansea who took advantage by setting the fastest lap of the Championship. Colin and Adam faced off in multiple heats before the final pitted them against each other for the last time. Adam was only able to wrestle his kart to fourth whereas Colin took the victory.
Hard fought for all positionsElsewhere in the standings, Adam Evans and Gareth Lewis, both of Pembroke Dock fought to take third in the Championship with the former just able to snatch it. Championship organiser Royston Badham saw a fitting end to the year by taking a podium finish in the final event allowing him to finish fifth overall. The points margin separating all drivers in the standings was very small, highlighting the exceptional competitive spirit every participant has shown throughout the season.
“The 2009 Pembrokeshire Karting Championship has been a great success” said organiser Royston Badham, “We would like to express thanks to everyone involved in the season including drivers, spectators and Carew Karting. We look forward to another exciting Championship next year.”For more information on this and future events, please visit www.kartingcrew.co.uk .
