Fixtures for 26th September 2009

Things were a little better last week as I got 8 out of 11 games correct – and I was delighted when Alan McClelland phoned me to say thanks for firing his boys up by tipping Cefneithin to beat the Mariners, who steamed home by 38-12! Whitland and Cardigan let me down with defeats but I’m getting better and so able to resist The Expert’s attempts to take over the reins!

Division One (West):

Cwmllynfell v Whitland
Whitland travel to Cwmllynfell eager to return to winning ways against a side which has won once from three starts. Verdict: Away matches at this level are never easy but I go for Whitland in the hope that I can get their result right for once!

Narberth v Bonymaen
The Otters play host to a Bonymaen outfit which has lost just once from their three starts but have home advantage, which is a real plus point. Verdict: The Otters to return to winning ways.

Division Three (West):

Crymych v Laugharne
Matches between these two sides are traditionally hard fought and this one is unlikely to be an exception. Verdict: Laugharne had a big win last Saturday but the Preseli Men should have enough fire-power if their pack goes well.

Haverfordwest v Llandeilo
Haverfordwest are still searching for a win and so will hope to halt Llandeilo’s good start at Merlins Bridge. Verdict: It could be very close but I have to tip Llandeilo in the hope I put them off and the Blues grab their first success!

Penclawdd v Cardigan
Penclawdd are always a tough prospect on home turf and cardigan will need to up the tempo if they want to claim their second success of the campaign. Verdict: I think the Cocklemen will edge through with home advantage.

Division Four (West):

Hendy v Pembroke
Hendy have only won once from three starts but will look to use their big pack to slow the Scarlets down. Pembroke are not the best travellers and much will depend on what sort of team they take with them. Verdict: It all depends on whether the Scarlets have another dose of travel sickness but I have this feeling they could claim an away victory.

Pembroke Dock Quins v Milford Haven
Another local derby to savour where the Quins have lost all three matches and Milford are on the crest of a wave after beating Cefneithin last weekend. Verdict: The Quins are a gritty team at Bierspool but the Mariners should win this one!

Trimsaran v Tenby United
This could be Tenby’s chance to break their points duck against a Trimsaran outfit which has just three points but it all depends on whether the Seasiders travel with their best side available. Verdict: I hope Tenby claim their first win but I fear that Trimsaran will edge it.

Division Five (West):

Furnace v Neyland
Neyland have made an excellent start to their campaign with two wins and a draw whilst Furnace have hardly set the section on fire with one win from three starts. Verdict: The All Blacks to win this one with something to spare!

Llangwm v New Dock Stars
Llangwm played well at Fishguard and if they can maintain that sort of collective spirit will soon climb the table. New Dock Stars have a 50% record so far and play from the strength of a big pack. Verdict: I hope the Wasps will win this one but I have to plump for the Stars.

St Davids v Bynea
St Davids return to action against a Bynea side which has one once from their opening trio of games, with the Saints eager to break their duck. Verdict: I have a hunch the Saints might just edge this match if they play well.

Swansea Uplands v Fishguard
Fishguard have made a cracking start to the season, with maximum points from three matches so a trip to Swansea Uplands should harvest more points against a side which has lost all its games so far. Verdict: The Seagulls to win, with another bonus point if they are at full strength!
