page revision date :Steve James Memorial Six a Side Competition:Ross stars as Hook claim Steve James Memorial Competition
The superb trophy, originally donated by the McEntee family for the county six a side tournament, was presented by Steve’s eldest son, Julian, to Hook skipper Ross Martin and it was a touching fact that Julian was joined by brothers Adam and Ashley in playing for Haverfordwest during the competition. Hook beat Haverfordwest A in the final after they had restricted The Town’s powerful batting line up to 110 and they then sped to 114 for 0 as Martin (75 not out) and Ben Field (35 not out) showed their batting prowess. Martin had earlier scored 110 not out against Haverfordwest B in a match where Julian James had struck a splendid 94 from only 26 deliveries, and it was no surprise that Martin was adjudged as the man of the tournament by adjudicator Karl Rhead, receiving the trophy presented by Steve’s parents Ruth and Wiffy James.

A super performance by Ross Martin helped Hook win the Innisfree Bowl at the inaugural Steve James Memorial Six a Side competition held by Haverfordwest Cricket Club in memory of their former player, captain and chairman Steve James who sadly passed away earlier in the year.
There was a feast of cricket enjoyed by a large gathering on The Racecourse and it is planned that the Steve James Memorial Tournament will be held every year as a mark of appreciation for all that Steve did at Haverfordwest Cricket Club.
