Bernie ArmstrongBeat the Expert Week 2

Bernie’s held on for the first week

After the first week of our tipping battle things are all square as ‘The Expert’ picked up four points and so did Bernie Armstrong, the popular manager of Goodwick United, who is the first to accept the challenge over four weeks this campaign.

Others who have already signed up to accept the challenge are Tony Jones, the Merlins Bridge legend, Steve Batty (Herbrandston’s manager), Daisy Picton (the Hakin United leg end) and the sporting crowd from Manderwood’s.

It seems that Bernardo is now beginning to take his tipping a little more seriously because our mole in his family tells us that when he should have been cutting the grass on Sunday morning he was sitting on the giant patio at Armstrong Mansion in Goodwick with the fixtures, a sheet of paper and a pencil stub, for almost 40 minutes before phoning us with his Scorecasts. Our expert just shrugged and said it was a pity that Bernie had nothing better to do than waste his time because he is bound to lose over four weeks!

19th September 2009 Football Fixtures

Division 1
(results to appear here on Saturday evening)

Clarbeston Road 2 - Kilgetty 4
Goodwick United 0 - Haverfordwest County 1
Herbrandston 0 - Hakin United 2
Monkton Swifts 1 - Neyland 2
Pennar Robins 2 - Merlins Bridge 7
Solva 0 - Narberth 1
Tenby 1 - Prendergast Villa  0

Bernie Armstrong’s Predictions:

Division 1:

Clarbeston Road 3 Kilgetty 0
Clarbeston road are able to score goals and with home advantage I think they will be clear winners because Kilgetty aren’t scoring enough goals.

Goodwick United 2 Haverfordwest County 1
Haverfordwest County are a strong side but we usually do well against them and I’m hoping my players will show what they can do on the day.

Herbrandston 2 Hakin United 1
I know that this will be regarded a surprise forecast but Hakin are not on top form and things can go wrong in a local derby, especially against a good young Herbie side.

Monkton Swifts 2 Neyland 1
The Swifts are due a result and I think this will be it. Neyland can beat anyone on their day but I think the Swifts will snatch this match.

Pennar Robins 2 Merlins Bridge 2
This could be the match of the day, especially since Pennar ar on their own patch. Either side could win it so I’ll just sit on the fence!

Solva 2 Narberth 3
Solva are usually good for a goal or two at Maes y Mor but Narberth are on form and should still be able to snatch another win to keep them in early contention.

Tenby 3 Prendergast Villa 1
Villa are finding it hard going whilst fellow-promotion winners Tenby are looking really strong – so I have to tip Mikey Lewis’s boys.
