Santas needed to help raise funds
and have a smashing time . . .
If you are looking for an incentive to get fit, lose a little weight and be ready for a very merry Christmas then you should certainly read on with this article since you could do all those things and help good causes as a result – and get to dress up as Santa Claus!
This years ‘Pembrokeshire Santa Run’ will take place at Llandissilio on Sunday the 14th of December, 2008 and the organisers are hoping to make it an even bigger success than oprevious years with your help. If you feel that the actual run is too much for you then you could still help as a marshall or a fund-raiser on the day.
The event has raised over £16,000 for Ty Hafan and other local charities during its first two years and 2007 saw 254 Santas run, jog or stroll around the 5 kilometre course (it doesn’t matter about speed as long as you can complete the course) whilst providing a spectacular festive sight for spectators who lined the route.
The Trots Running Club were the overall winners last year and Ann Thomas (Clunderwen) was the individual winner but there was also great support from Narberth and Crymych Rugby Clubs, the Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club and Crymych Triathlon Club. A big welcome awaits other sporting organizations who would like to take part, or other groups like scouts, guides, round table or even the old-timers in Rotary Club of Freemasonry!
