Mari’s back as Borderettes prove too good for Bony

Whitland Ladies beat Bonymaen

Women’s Premiership:

Whitland Ladies 32 - Bonymaen 12

There was a fitting return for Mari Griffiths as Whitland Ladies signed off for Christmas in style with a bonus point win over Bonymaen at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn.

Griffiths was playing her first game back since undergoing chemotherapy earlier this year, and after coming on in the second half it was if the 26-year-old had never been away as she stood out in both defence and attack.

Six tries to cap good display

It capped a good display from the home team who ran in six tries to win 32-12, with Rosie Davies crossing twice alongside further scores from Marged Williams, Natalie Walsh, Sally Windsor, and Sam Burnell. Ceulen Davies landed a conversion.

Joint players of the match

It was Griffiths and Walsh who were later adjudged the ‘players of the match’ by the opposition, and Bonymaen themselves kept playing to end and grabbed two tries, the last of which came right on the final whistle.

“We were a bit slow to get going first half,” admitted Walsh.

“But after half time we gained a bit of control. The forwards carried well and then we went wide and it was effective.”

Whitland squad: Nicole Davies, Millie Harry, Macey Bowen, Liwsi Ebsworth, Sam Burnell, Evelyn Coleman, Sally Windsor, Kelsey Haycocks, Ceulun Davies, Carys James, Natalie Walsh, Rosie Davies, Caryl Davies, Marged Williams, Mari Griffiths.
