PembrokeshireSport.co.uk celebrates its 10th birthday

Ten years ago now PembrokeshireSport.co.uk announced it was launching its sports website and in the intervening decade we have been delighted with the support of our local sporting fraternity, especially with regard to our loyal sponsors, most of whom are genuine sports lovers and have stayed with us since we started out.

World-famous sportsmen featured on visits to Pembrokeshire

Our regular followers have also remained loyal and seem to look forward to our weekend results service, feature articles and action pics – and we have met some amazing characters, unsung heroes and top local stars that regularly include Jonathan Thomas, Dominic Day, Rob Evans, James ‘Cub’ Davies alongside world-famous sports people like Warren Gatland, Eddie Butler, Sir Gareth Edwards, Phil Bennett and JJ Williams, plus our own football heroes like Mark Delaney and Joe Allen.

Great support from officials – apart from one sad incident

We would also like to acknowledge the help of Brian Hawkins, Mike Phillips and Phil Devonald from the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League; all our regular contributors in rugby and amazing photographers like Susan and Brian McKehon..

Clubs in all sports have been brilliant and our only downbeat moment came when misguided officials in county cricket somehow saw us as a threat to their own small web site and tried to squeeze us out of receiving results – but fortunately they failed miserably.

It is great that our county cricket now has far more enlightened leaders like Paul Webb, Steve Blowes, Trefor Evans, Nick Evans and John Harries from the Thomas Carroll Pembroke County Cricket Club,

Final thanks to everyone!

We have a smashing working relationship with All Wales Sport, who amazingly cover results across the whole of Wales under the guidance of Ian Davies, Ellis Davies and the late Chris Smart – and we were honoured to be chosen as their best sporting web site two years ago.

It has been a privilege to have covered the less popular sports in terms of numbers, and especially disability sport and sports for women and young children.

So thanks to everyone who has helped us progress – and here’s looking forward to the next decade!
