Pembrokeshire County Primary Schools Under 11’s Football Squad met Carmarthen Schools both  home and away over the last few weeks and fought back well after a slightly disappointing first series of games.

Ona very wet and windy Friday night Pembs travelled to Coleg Sir Gar to play on their fantastic 4G pitch but the Pembs boys seemed to be unsettled by the cold and wet weather and did not perform to the best of their ability.

The A squad won their first game 2-0 with goals from Iori Badham and Seth Woodhouse and then narrowly lost the second 1-0.

The B squad did not perform so well and lost 6-0 in their first match. Several players were affected by the severe cold and ended up having to come off the pitch.

The second game was much closer, but Carmarthen ran out 3-1 victors.

A few weeks later the two sides met again at Tenby AFC.

Pembrokeshire A 6 - Carmarthen A 1

Pembrokeshire started off brightly with sharp passing between Harri John and Iori Badham as Dylan Kidd and Seth Woodhouse put the pressure on the Carmarthen defence with energetic running and created several scoring chances. The back two of Evan Rutherford and Jack Nicholas kept a tight defence with some fantastic covering and tackling. Kyle Rossiter made some superb saves in goal and his quick distribution set up many chances. Morgan Williams and Toby Price ran well on the wings and Taine Brace contributed well to the squad, returning after breaking his arm.

Pembs goals came from Harri John, Dylan Kidd (2), Seth Woodhouse, Iori Badham and Morgan Williams.

Pembrokeshire A 1 - Carmarthen B 2

Carmarthen scored two very quick goals and the Pembs boys were always playing catch up as they created many chances, but they failed to convert them. Captain Iori Badham pulled a goal back through a stunning individual run, but Pembs ran out of time.

Pembrokeshire B 3 - Carmarthen B 1

Pembs settled down well and played some cracking football after Max James scored the opening goal, which filled the side with confidence. Oscar Miles and Luc Owen worked hard in the centre of the pitch combining well and supporting Rudy Poole and Ieuan Irving. Jack Nicholas and Jey Urddin tackled back well with Dylan Duffy and Dan John covering a lot of ground.
Alfie Barnett made some brave one-on-one saves and threw the ball out well.
Dylan Duffy scored Pembs second with a superb dipping long range shot before Carms pulled one back - but Max James sealed the game with another well- taken goal.

Pembrokeshire B 0 - Carmarthen A 0

This was a fantastic end to end game played by two very talented footballing sides. Both goalkeepers made terrific saves and both defences tacked strongly. In the dying seconds Pembs had one last chance, but the ball just flew past the near post.
