Alastair has a great time with Welsh under 13s’ hockey team

Alastair Dyer Alastair Dyer, of Pembroke County Hockey club, represented Wales Hockey Dragons at the UK Under 13 Boys’ Regional Hockey Championship in Nottingham last weekend.

The Dragons, selected from hockey clubs across the whole of Wales, finished 9th in the tournament, which was won by North-West England.

The Welsh players had only been able to train as separate north and south squads, with just one match together prior to the tournament.  Despite this, and a very tough qualifying group that contained the eventual winners, the Dragons played some excellent hockey over their six matches, with Alastair contributing a number of good attacking moves, especially in the group match against South of England that the Dragons only lost narrowly.

The standard of play was exceptionally high, so congratulations to Alastair for rising to the challenge of playing against the best players from across the UK, in front of a large crowd of spectators, at a major multi-day championship.
