Sean's a star with sport in Neyland!

Sean Hannon and Bill Carne

Star of the Month

Our ‘Star of the Month’ for February 2017 is Sean Hannon, who recently led Neyland Cricket Club’s indoor league team to their third Welsh Championship in four seasons, and their fifth in seven campaigns during the winter months!

Now Sean would be the first to say it is very much a team game and he has the support of a very strong squad of players as they now set out on the long trek to the UK Finals at Lords – but they have been there twice before and not quite pouched the silverware!

Leading a great squad . . .

He followed Gregg Miller as an inspirational leader of the indoor squad at Neyland and still can call on that depth of experience when required, alongside players of immense indoor cricket talent like his twin brother Patrick, Nathan Banner, Ashley Sutton, Nick Koomen, Paul Murray, Geraint Rees, Henry Durrant and some very good young players waiting in the wings.

Sean has been captain outdoors for a couple of years, building on the superb work done by Andrew and Gregg Miller – and has played for the county team outdoors and captained them to victory in an away match against the South Wales League.

. . . And a Nomad through and through!

He has been involved in coaching juniors, and playing football for Neyland AFC, where he is currently turning out at full back or centre half.

Sean was also the youngest-ever club secretary for ten years and is currently chairman and, as in cricket he gives 100% effort in all his sporting activity.

He has been lucky to have wonderful support from his wife Kirsty and they now have a baby girl called Luna who is sure to grace the boundaries of local cricket clubs for years to come!

Sean is a smashing player but above all a true sportsman and we are delighted to make him our ‘Star of the Month’ for February 2017!
