Haverfordwest County 2 – Cambrian & Clydach 2

Tom Dyson presses forwardHaverfordwest County twice came from behind to salvage a draw with Cambrian & Clydach at the Conygar Bridge Meadow in a hard fought entertaining tussle.

Both teams came into this second versus third in the table clash in good form; the Bluebirds have won their last five games and the visitors their last six.

It finished all square with Kieron Coles scoring two headers and Eliott Scotcher also scored twice in the second half to earn his side a point.

Ashley Bevan should have given the homesters the lead when the striker broke clean through, but he drilled his shot agonisingly wide of the target with only keeper Dan Bradley to beat.

Cam takes the lead

The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute when Coles nodded home from a half cleared corner. Sam Jones flashed a low shot across the face of the Bluebirds’ goal.

Scotcher and Danny Williams struck efforts wide as the Bluebirds worked hard in search of an equaliser.
Cambrian & Clydach were good value for their 0-1 lead at the break.

Simple tap-in

Shortly after the break and Wayne Jones’ Haverfordwest County outfit equalised; Williams crossed perfectly for Scotcher to finish with a simple far post tap-in.

Kaid Mohammed replaced the hard working Bevan up front and Jack Wilson also added fresh legs for the cause.

However, it was the visitors who stunned the home fans when they regained the lead when Coles scored with a powerful near post header.

Scotcher is spot on

Referee Ryan Kenny pointed straight to the spot, and Scotcher kept his cool to send Bradley the wrong way and put his team level for the second time of the afternoon.

County were unlucky that they didn’t snatch victory in injury time; Scotcher’s well struck direct free kick rebounded off the foot of Bradley’s post, denying the midfielder his hat-trick.

“Disappointed to concede from two set pieces, our keeper hasn’t really had to make a save all afternoon,” Haverfordwest County manager Wayne Jones said afterwards.

“I had a look at the stats after the game and we had nine attempts at goal, five on target and four off.

“They scored two headers when we totally switched off at the back.”

Both teams observed a minute's silence before kick off, in memory of Bluebirds' supporter Kevin Bryce and former Bluebird Cecil 'Punch' Williams who have passed away.
