Friendly Rugby:

Haverfordwest 12 - St Davids 13

With their Division Three (West) B programme suspended because of the Swalec Bowl, St Davids took the chance of match practice as they played a friendly against Haverfordwest Seconds and came away with a win by a single point from an entertaining tussle played in a good spirit.

Hero of the hour for the Saints was John Miles, making a welcome return and slotting the last-gasp penalty which turned a possible 10-12 defeat into a 13-12 victory.

Skipper Rhys ‘Loshin’ Price switched to second row and led by example alongside the other Rhys Price, playing at scrum half, whilst Dan Murphy was adjudged man of the match for his work at prop in conjunction with Neil Thomas and new recruit Will Davies.

It was Murphy who was one of the Saints’ try scorers and so was veteran winger Richard Lewis, making a welcome return to action and looking sharp.

For the Blues there were tries by Chris Richards and Craig Nightingale, plus one conversion by Michael Slack but it wasn’t quite enough as the visitors were able to celebrate victory by the narrowest of margins.Saints edge through against Blues Seconds
