Gale force success for Otters

Llanharan 6 - Narberth 19 Rugby Reports 9 May 2015

Two tries by winger Nick Gale helped Narberth claim the double over old rivals Llanharan to round off another long season of league rugby on a positive note.

Llanharan opened the scoring after ten minutes with a penalty from outside half Harrison Evans before Stuart Worrall set up the platform for a smashing try by skipper Steve Martin to give his side a 7-3 interval lead after Ianto Griffiths converted.

Harrison Evans again opened up the second half scoring with another penalty but then the Otters scored two tries via Nick Gale as reward for their running rugby, the first one converted from wide out by Ianto Griffiths, and made the journey home with their 15th win of the season and a final creditable sixth place in the section table.

Preseli Men power to victory

Crymych 41 - Newcastle Emlyn 8

The Preseli Men were already 27-8 ahead at the break as Emlyn could muster just a try from Steffan Evans alongside a Llyr Davies’ penalty.

The try scorers for Crymych as they also collected a bonus point were Tom Powell, a penalty try, Tomi Jones (2) and Gavin Thomas, with Sam Phillips landing two conversions and Luke Rogers claiming 12 points from three conversions and two penalties.

So Emlyn received the section glassware but Crymych could feel delighted with 14 wins from 22 starts that earned them fourth place in the table.

Teifisiders finish on a winning note

Cardigan 14 - Aberystwyth 7

 Rugby Reports 9 May 2015

Cardigan rounded off a disappointing season on a winning note as a good all-round team performance eased them to victory over Aberystwyth at the King George Vth Ground.

The Teifisiders were on top up front in the first half and when the Mid Wales’s side transgressed so Cardigan scrum half Llyr Jones was able to punish them with three nicely-taken penalties.

Midway through a tight second half the Teifisiders claimed an unconverted try as flanker Marcus Castle scored as reward for his excellent support play.

Aber had the final word with ten minutes to go as scrum half Gethin Davies sniped through for a try which Gwion Phillips converted – but it was too little, too late as Cardigan refused to concede any further points and picked up a welcome win.
