No upsets in the top flight as Goodwick United and Narberth win in the cup

Rob Morgans scored a hat-trick for Goodwick United in their cup success at Wales Tartan




There were no upsets in Saturday’s Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division matches.

League leaders Hakin United won 4-1 against Neyland at the Obs. Justin ‘Skinny’ Harding, Adam Davies and Gareth Fawcett scored for the Vikings who are four points clear at the top of the table, and Nathan Warlow netted the Nomads’ only goal.

Second placed Merlins Bridge gained a slender 3-4 victory at Herbrandston. Nathan Greene (2), Matthew D’Ivry and Stephen McNabney struck the goals for the Wizards and Shane Walsh (2) and Hayden Dimond replied for Herbie.

Third placed Pennar Robins won 1-3 at third from bottom Angle. Luke Phillips (2) and Dean Driscoll netted for the visitors and Ben Adams scored the homesters only goal. The Robins have been deducted three points by the league for fielding an ineligible player against West Dragons earlier in the season.

Fourth placed Tenby comfortably won 3-0 at home against rock bottom West Dragons, Scott Ferney, Daryl Mansbridge and Sam Christopher bagged the goals.

Second from bottom Saundersfoot Sports lost 0-3 at home against St Clears. Owain Evans (2) and Danny Peters scored the goals to secure the points for the Saints.

The biggest margin of victory was at Monkton Lane where Monkton Swifts were thrashed 0-7 against Johnston. Ryan Doyle (2), Adam Hawkins (2), Liam James, James Skudder and Steven Mills all found the back for the net for the Tigers.

Three teams were involved in the West Wales Intermediate Cup third round. Camrose lost 1-3 at home against Carmarthenshire Premier Trostre Sports.

Narberth won 1-4 at Neath & District First Division Coelbren Athletic. Matthew Price (2), Marc Hughes and Jordan Williams netted for the delighted Bluebirds.

Goodwick United convincingly won 2-6 at Swansea League Third Division Wales Tartan. Rob Morgans (3), Jonny Horgan (2) and Stephen Evans scored for the visitors who have marched into the draw for the fourth round alongside Narberth, who are our last two teams from the county standing in the prestigious cup competition.
