Manderwood Pembrokeshire football fixtures for Saturday, 15th February 2020

West Wales Cup Round 4 (1.30pm):

Hakin United v Goodwick United - now postponed until February 22nd.

Division 1 (2pm):

Carew 3-1 Fishguard Sports

I've sold Carew short on goals in recent weeks, and they'll hope I've done the same here.

Results wise they are looking much more like the side that challenged on three fronts last year, and in Fraser Finlay and Scott Ferney they have two of the league's in-form players (the latter now has 18 goals in four games).

I wrote their title hopes off pre-Christmas but while they have played more games than teams around them, they perhaps aren't totally out of things yet.

Fishguard pushed Goodwick all the way in that Senior Cup tie in late January but for various reasons, haven't played since.

They are now in their all too familiar position of going in with ring rust and having already won at Tregroes, I'd back Carew to do the double here.

Monkton Swifts 3-2 Clarbeston Road

The Swifts were also inadvertently given a weekend off and in the process, lost top spot.

With Hakin in cup action, they know it's vital they get it back here.

But it won't be simple against a Clarby team who came back from 2-0 down against Pennar to make it four wins on the trot. Richard Bevan's brace helped them eventually triumph 6-2 and the champions know they have to battle against a team they beat 4-3 in October.

Ben Steele had a hat trick that day so Clarby will have to handle him better this time around. I think Monkton, but Clarby will make them work.

Neyland 2-1 St Clears

Neyland were all at sea last week, on and off the field.

With a number of players in Ireland (for longer than they bargained for) those left at home lost 11-1 to Carew. It will be a different team this weekend, but they still have some making up to do.

In reality St Clears had to win last week but despite a goal from Will Evans and a wonder strike from Danny Peters, could only draw 2-2 at Saundersfoot.

Still they await a first league win and in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago, The Nomads beat them 2-1. I envisage the same on Saturday.

Pennar Robins 1-4 Merlins Bridge

Losing to Hakin last Saturday left Bridge eight points off them having played the same number of games. Their title hopes are fading and slipping up again is not an option.

They will start favourites here against a Pennar side struggling for results in recent weeks. Josh Hicks and Connor Roberts seemingly had them in control at Clarby at half time but after losing their way second half, it's now four straight defeats.

The Wizards beat The Robins 4-0 at home and will fancy their chances of goals again.

Saundersfoot Sports 2-4 Narberth

Narberth didn't fulfil their fixture at Fishguard last week although the reasoning, and outcome of the non-game, is yet to be made clear by the League.

If at full strength, they'd start favourites for three points on Saturday but Saundersfoot should at least be buoyed by that first point of the season, courtesy of Adam Davidson's brace.

And if the visitors are under missing players, the hosts may fancy their chances of competing for something again.
