Goals from Leon Luby and Danny Williams secured Haverfordwest County victory at STM Sports to progress in the Welsh Cup.

This was always going to be a tricky tie for the Bluebirds as Cardiff based STM Sports are fifth in the Welsh League Division Two table, played seven, won five, and lost two.

The Sports gained Welsh League status in 2015 – only eight years after starting out in the bottom division of the Cardiff Combination League football.

Luby chips the keeper

The visitors opened the scoring in the 40th minute, Luby chipping the keeper from 20 yards out which gave his side a 1-0 cushion at the interval.

Five minutes after the break and the visitors doubled the lead, Danny Williams struck from 25 yards out with a quality strike.

The Sports pulled a goal back in the 75th minute, but the Bluebirds didn’t concede for the remainder will go through to round two.

This Saturday, October 27 return to league action then Haverfordwest County entertain Undy Athletic at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium, kick off is at 2.30pm.
