Cwmamman United 0 – Haverfordwest County 2

Haverfordwest County scored two goals in the first half to seal a thoroughly deserved away victory at Cwmamman United.

The visitors were without Ricky Watts, who was serving a one-match suspension, after getting himself sent off late in the game last week at home to Undy Athletic.

Solid display

Goalkeeper Connah McFenton returned and pulled off some important saves to deny the homsters scoring, and more importantly the young keeper will be really happy he kept a clean sheet.

Veterans Tim Hicks and Nicky Palmer’s experience benefited the industrious Greg Walters in midfield, and teenager Dan Williams linked well with Joe Leahy and Steffan Williams up front.

Skipper Sean Pemberton and Sam Rodon were rock solid in the heart of defence alongside full backs Matthew Broome and Kristian Speake.

Chipped keeper

Steffan Williams scored the second from the penalty spotThe visitors broke the deadlock on the 20 minute mark, striker Leahy struck a delicate chip over home keeper from the edge of the 18 yard box.

The visitors had a strong shout for a penalty turned down, but were not denied in the 31st minute when they were awarded a penalty, up stepped Steffan Williams, who struck his effort firmly as it flew in via the post to give the visitors a two-goal cushion at half time.

There were no further goals in the second period, but co-managers Hicks and Sean Cresser, will be pleased with the whole squad’s performance and they will be relishing the prospect of taking on currently unbeaten league leaders Llanelli Town, with Lee Trundle amongst their ranks, at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium on Saturday, September 23rd, with kick off at 2.30pm.
