Undy Athletic 1 – Haverfordwest County 2

A late Sean Pemberton header secured Haverfordwest County an extremely hard fought victory against ten-man Undy Athletic in the last league game of 2017.

Dan Jarmin grabbed the opener for the visitors before two second half goals by Joe Leahy and Pemberton secured The Bluebirds’ eleventh win of the season, they are currently sitting in second place in the table, two points behind leaders Llanelli Town.

Midway through the first period and Undy’s striker capitalised following a goalmouth scramble, Jarman scored in a crowded area, the game became a bit feisty when Athletic’s Tom Wright was sent off.

Took advantage

Sean Cresser’s Bluebirds took advantage with the extra man when they equalised 25 seconds after the interval, Steff Williams’ pinpoint cross was chested down by Leahy inside the box, before the striker calmly side-footed into the bottom corner.

In the 75th minute the visitors should have added a second goal when Steffan Williams’ struck the post with the goal at his mercy.

However, with the very next play, a Kristian Speake corner saw skipper Pemberton, who leapt like a salmon out of water and duly nodded in the winner to secure three precious points for the Cresser’s men.
