Cambrian & Clydach 2 – Haverfordwest County 1

A stunning late volley by Mikey Jones secured a comeback victory for Cambrian & Clydach against shell-shocked Haverfordwest County.

Jones’ late strike also took the impressive Bluebirds 100% winning record in the league, with Bluebirds manager Wayne Jones claiming afterwards his side’s poor finishing proved costly.

“We took the lead through Trundle’s early strike but incredibly failed to score again after creating a host of chances,” said Jones.

“It doesn’t matter who you play in this division, if you don’t put these chances away then there’s a high probability it will come back to bite you on the bottom. And it did today!”

Trundle, returning to the starting line-up, gave the visitors the perfect start when he struck from the edge of the box in the 10th minute.

Missed chances

However, the visitors should have scored a few more before the break. Ben Fawcett missed a one-on-one in the first minute; Danny Williams was also guilty of not finding the target on a couple of occasions.

With only ten minutes to go, Tim Hicks conceded a penalty for the second successive week -  the visitors took full advantage to square matters from the spot.

Smack, bang on full time and Jones sweetly struck a superb volley into the top corner to pinch the points for Cam.
