Disability Sport Wales has awarded the 'insport development silver standard' to Pembrokeshire County Council – only the third Local Authority in Wales to achieve this accreditation. 
 

Michelle says ‘well done’

 
The accolade recognised the Council’s inclusive approach to sport and leisure.
“Disability Sport Wales would like to congratulate Pembrokeshire County Council on their achievement of the insport Development Silver standard,” said Michelle Daltry, Partnership Manager at Disability Sport Wales.
 

‘insport’ explained

 
The insport programme comprises four incremental standards (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold), against which a set of criteria must be met. 
 
Partners have to evidence how programmes of inclusion have been embedded and explain how working towards inclusion has made a difference to them. 
 

High praise continues

 
Michelle Daltry added: “The Local Authority has clearly undertaken a robust and focussed approach to the on-going development of inclusive sport and physical activity across the Local Authority and this emerging evidence base will further support and endorse the case for meaningful inclusion as they progress towards Gold.”

Cllr Sue Perkins, former Cabinet Member for Education and Safeguarding, said the award recognised the effort of Sport Pembrokeshire and Pembrokeshire Leisure in their application of the philosophy and culture of inclusion through policy and working practice, and structuring inclusive delivery.”
