Haverfordwest Ladies successful road to the Welsh Super Cup Bowl
Haverfordwest Ladies rugby team created club history when they won the Welsh Super Cup after not conceding a single point in the earlier rounds and then beating a very experienced team from Ynysybwl in the final.

Lampeter 0 - Lady Blues 28

Number 8 Nina Colville returned to the pitch after a broken arm which had halted her league rugby. Lady Blues dominated from the off, creating a fantastic platform to start their Welsh Super Cup campaign.

Bedlinog 0 Lady Blues 59

Division winners Bedlinog Vixens came to Haverfordwest with a big army of supporters and full of confidence. Lady Blues took a while to settle into the game but then the Blues supreme fitness shone through, crumbling the Vixens defence, and some fantastic well-worked tries came thick and fast.

Penlan 0 - Lady Blues 57

Nearly all cup fixtures were postponed due to the classic Welsh weather but the Lady Blues took the trip to Penlan to play on what was nothing short of a pitch that resembled a swimming pool. With cold winds and the heavens opening for another dose, conditions deteriorated but the Lady Blues pressed o,n playing a forwards game - and managed to rack up the tries before an early finish.

Ynysybwl 0 - Lady Blues 26

A hard-fought game which demonstrated the progression made in defence by the Lady Blues. Bwl had no pace out wide so Lady Blues attacked using their sniping wingers.

This enabled Haverfordwest Ladies to advance to the Quarter Finals without conceding a single point!

Quarter Final: Nantyfyllon 0 - Lady Blues 70

Having lost to Nanty in the league a few weeks prior, Lady Blues knew they needed to up their game to keep the clean sheet. After a shaky start Blues set their defence and stepped on the gas resulting in some champagne team and individual tries which had come straight from the training ground.  In front of an ever-growing  home crowd The Lady Blues looked sharp and unstoppable.

Semi Final: Senghenydd 0 - Lady Blues 83

Both unbeaten sides and  the curse of the sleepy start left the Lady Blues rattled, defending their own try line in the first five minutes. A powerful Blues scrum turned the tide and opened the gate for some cracking tries. A fantastic display of women’s rugby by the Blues had put them into the Bowl Super Cup Final in Llandovery in only their second season.

 Final : Ynysybwl 8 - Lady Blues 18

The overwhelming atmosphere, nerves and expectations of the day showed on the jittery Blues’ performance. With nothing to lose Bwl came at the blues ferociously and in 10 minutes slotted three points. Haverfordwest gained some composure and grabbed some all- important tries followed by a Bwl try. It was a nail-biting finish to the very last kick which resulted in Blue hysteria! Lady Blues had won the silverware, a fantastic finish to a very successful cup campaign.

A huge thank you to our committed coaches Gareth Charles, Ben John and Natalie Bowen.

Three Lady Blues are using the off season to get married we wish them all the luck on their special day.
