Hakin United beat Cwmamman United to progress in Welsh Cup

2021-22 Division One champions, Hakin United

FAW Welsh Cup – Qualifying Round:

Hakin United 3 – Cwmamman United 0

Three unanswered second half goals secured Hakin United a thoroughly deserved victory against Cwmamman United at the Obs as manager Scott Davies described the performance as ‘the perfect start to the season.’

Davies was delighted that his side kick started their season with a comfortable win plus they kept a clean sheet against opposition who play in the Ardal Leagues South West, which is tier three of the Welsh football pyramid.

Goals by Shane Walsh, Jack Britton and Ashley Bevan ensured the Vikings are in the hat for the next round.

There were no goals in the opening 45 minutes, but shortly after the break the Vikings scored twice in three minutes to turn the tie on its head.

Walsh volley and Britton header puts Vikings in charge

In the 47th minute lively Walsh broke the deadlock with a clinical volley, the goal was set up by clever play by Britton and skipper Bevan.

That goal definitely rocked the visitors, just three minutes later the hosts bagged their second, as inspirational Britton headed home at the far post, from a well delivered Leon Luby corner.

Two-up the Vikings began to play with an air of confidence as Camron Thomas, Walsh, Britton, Matthew Broome and Nathan Banner, the latter on his return, all caught the eye.

Skipper Bevan on target with third

On the 70-minute mark the hosts added a third, Broome played in Bevan, the striker cleverly beat two defenders inside the box before he drilled his left footed shot in the far corner to wrap up proceedings.

Before the cup tie, there was a presentation as Pembrokeshire Football League members Ceri Morgan (chairman) and Ian Baker (acting secretary) presented the Division One Cup and medals to champions Hakin United - much to the pleasure of their club officials and supporters.

In round two of the competition Hakin United will play Penlan AFC at the Obs, which is scheduled for Saturday, 20th August.
