Pembrokeshire under 13s on tour in Bristol

Pembrokeshire under 13s recently toured Bristol and Hereford and enjoyed three quality games of cricket against Bishopston, Cotswolds/Bristol District XI and the Herefordshire Development team.

Extras prove costly

On the first day the County under 13s played Bishopston under 13s in a 40 over match. Bishopston scored 159 for 9 in their 40 overs (Noah Davies 2 for 14, Nathan Coaker 2 for 22), Pembrokeshire got off to a slow start after losing early wickets but recovered and fought well to finish just nine runs short in the end (Harry Nicholas 28, Nikhil Mathias 28, Lewis Hough 23). A close game but extras given away while bowling proved too costly.

Chloe proves a real star

On the second day the County under 13s played a Cotswold/Bristol mixed district team at Bristol Cricket Club. The Cotswold/Bristol team won the toss, batted first and scored runs at a good rate to finish on 217 for 8 (Chloe Hood 5 for 53, Ollie Wheeler 2 for 21).

Pembrokeshire's run chase started well before rain ended the innings early when the match was finely poised. John Mansbridge (37no) and Jack Nicholas (19no) had batted superbly to get Pembs to 69 for 0 in 17 overs, a great position to chase down the total.

Big win for county

The last game of the tour was at Herefordshire's Cricket Centre against a Herefordshire Development team. Pembrokeshire batting first and losing early wickets meant that is was a slow start but sensible batting by Lewis Hough (23) and Ollie Wheeler (22) got Pembs back into a good position. The star of the innings was the much improved Jonny White, who batted 24 overs to finish on 44 not out and helping Pembs to 142 for 8.

Tight bowling early on helped restrict the Herefordshire team as wickets came regularly with Chloe Hood taking another four wickets and Jonny White, Harry Nicholas, Nathan Coaker and Ollie Wheeler all getting a wicket each as they bowled out their opponents for 53.

Thanks to all

It was an enjoyable tour with plenty of quality cricket on show, and the Pembrokeshire under 13s would like to thank all the sides they played as they were given a very friendly welcome wherever they went.
