Goodwick suffer shock defeat and cup joy for Vikings and Wizards

Senior Cup action where Neyland lost at home against Hakin UnitedFour of the five Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division games were played and there were two important cup ties also completed on Saturday afternoon.

League leaders Goodwick United suffered a shock home 2-3 defeat against Monkton Swifts. Goodwick striker Jordan Griffiths scored twice in vain as The Swifts claimed three points with goals from James Russell, Patrick Mcdonagh and Luke Hendry.

Clarbeston Road hammered Milford United 6-0 at home. Leading the rout was Jason Griffiths with a stunning hat-trick alongside a brace by Steff Thomas and an own goal secured a sweet victory for The Road.

Lamphey lost 2-4 at home against Herbrandston. Mickey Davies scored twice for The Stags, but Herbie secured the points with goals shared by Marc Gelona, Alex Ouzman, Jason Clarke and Scott Reid.

Narberth thrashed Pennar Robins 6-1 at Jesse Road. There was a brace each for Jordan Williams and Tony Evans and one apiece for Chris Brown and Dafydd Wright. Phil Jones scored the visitors only goal.

West Dragons v Carew was postponed.

In the Senior Cup quarter final tie played at the Athletic Ground, Neyland lost 0-2 against Hakin United. Daniel Armstrong and an own goal secured a place in the last four of the competition for The Vikings who will play Carew at the Bridge Meadow on Wednesday, 28th February.

Merlins Bridge celebrated reaching the last eight of the West Wales Intermediate Cup after narrowly winning 1-0 at Swansea League Port Tennant Colts – in a tight game Luke Hayward scored from the spot to earn The Wizards victory.
