Welsh League Division One

Ton Pentre 0 – Haverfordwest County 1

Haverfordwest County stay top of the table after gaining a slender one-goal victory at Ton Pentre.
Before this clash, Ton Pentre was sitting ninth in the table, with a record of four wins, one defeat and two draws from seven matches.

Stunning winner

So this game was always going to be a stiff test for the league leaders, the only goal of the game was scored in the 36th minute by Chris O’Sullivan. The central midfielder curled a superb direct free-kick from the edge of the box into the top corner. It was a delightful strike by the talismanic midfielder, which turned out to be the winner for the high-flying Bluebirds.

Skipper Dale Griffiths and Sam Rodon were solid at the back alongside defenders Ricky Watts and Antonio Facciuto. Keeper Craig Morris had a relative quiet afternoon thanks to his solid defence who constantly shut out the The Bulldogs’ attacks.

Impressive debut

Gwion Howell had an impressive debut playing up front alongside Jordan Follows, the 17 year old worked tirelessly, when he didn’t have the ball he closed down The Bulldogs defenders quickly, and this only the start of what will surely be a bright future for the teenager with the Bluebirds.

Bluebirds’ manager Wayne Jones was pleased that his side have won their sixth match including league and cup matches in a row, but more importantly they kept a clean sheet for the fourth successive game.
